Email PENN about changing undergradate college! URGENT!

I applied for Dual Degree and then I put Wharton as the college I would like to be considered at if I didn't get into the dual degree program. I already submitted the supplement but now I'm having a second thoughts. I actually want to go to CAS but would it look bad if I email Penn and tell them of my sudden change? SOMEONE PLEASE REPLY AND HELP ME. I'M FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW. Why did I put Wharton?! DAMNNNNN.

It would probably be better if there’s some analagous program that you can use to say you changed your mind. For instance, if there’s anything business-related, or maybe even economics, in CAS you could just say you thought CAS offered better opportunities to follow that and some other interest like math. whereas wharton seemed a bit limited and you didn’t want to lock yourself into business completely

thank you so much for replying!

but if I say I want to switch to economics, isn’t that a bit strange though that I suddenly changed my mind? I’m scared they’re going to think negatively about my application if I did this… ): idk what to dooo!

PEOPLE REPLY. I need opinionsssss!

You don’t want to seem indecisive or anything. Whatever caused you to change your mind, talk to them about it, as long as it wasn’t “upon further research” or “it’s easier to get into.” If you honestly don’t want to go to Wharton if you don’t get into the dual degree, then I’d say it’s in your interests to try and switch. Call and ask. Makes no sense getting locked into a school you don’t want to go to. There is that issue with your essays though, so hopefully, everything works out. I don’t think calling itself will hurt, but I’m not 100% sure.

I’d recommend that you email (and perhaps also call) your Regional Admissions Officer and explain that, on further reflection, you’ve decided that you’d prefer to be considered for CAS instead of Wharton if you aren’t accepted into the dual degree program (and ask that your application be amended accordingly):

[Penn Admissions: Regional Admissions Officers](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/current/regional.php)

Better that your application reflect your true desires, than worry about what they might think of you changing your mind, in my opinion.

So my chances of getting into Penn wont be tremendously hurt by switching what I put? I’m just worried that changing it is going to hurt me more than help me.
And I just submitted it yesterday, so should I wait a few days and email them or email them immediately?
Should I email the office or my regional officer? I thought if I wanted to make any changes, I’d just email the office of undergraduate admissions directly.
thank you so much for the quick replies!

Please, does anyone have any more comments!!!

anyone…?):

Wait what if the admission officers think I’m just changing it cause I’m “backdooring” it or w/e? I read on other CC threads that adcoms will think that if a student applies for CAS and it does not look good at all.

Someone please help me. I’m having a panick attack right now. I don’t want them to reject me for switching Wharton to CAS. This is my first choice school!!!

Honestly, if you would rather be at CAS than Wharton, e-mail your regional representative (they get to see your app first, so they’re the best person to contact) change it. They will accept your application into the University if you present a compelling enough case for admissions.

Remember, Penn Admissions wants to admit the best applicants; therefore, they won’t flat out reject you because of this switch. Don’t be worried; do what you truly want.

Wait… I just realized that in my penn essay, I wrote about one Wharton program…

oh crap. ■■■.
