I agree with Johnyenglish. Why don’t you ask the financial aid office about ‘Received - Review in Progress’ status?

I think there is something to the received to review to satisfied process. I have been in the review status since 2/21 so I am not expecting much next week. I have had my forms in by the required due dates, so I have never been the recipient of any emails- at least I hope this is the case. I anxiously await the notification next week as I keep my prayers going and my nose in my books to finish the year out strong.

If we find there is a correlation between the update system and acceptances next week I do hope the administrators at Dartmouth seriously consider a change in how they allow the status/update page is to be seen next year. To leave it in its present state would be irresponsible. The present situation causes too much conjecture, speculation and stress. As if there wasn’t enough already!

Just wanted to let you know my status just changed to Received and Satisfied for almost all my documents but two, and the As Of date is now today. This is probably because I recently turned stuff in and it prompted them to update my status. It says that my mother’s W-2s are incomplete or missing, even though I have sent them in the past, so I’ll call soon or wait for an email asking for more info about them.

And I don’t think anyone is taking this thread too seriously. It’s just fun for me to pass the wait by looking into this. I’m not going to celebrate or cry over it. Although sometimes colleges including Dartmouth DO send out blindingly obvious signs of an acceptance - likely letters and personal FA email inquiries.

Blind = Admission office won’t look into your affordability.
Blind != Financial office will go through 30,000 financial aid applications and prepare 30,000 award packages.

All of my documents except the IDOC were received and satisfied by February 4th, as they were sent very early. My IDOC is still listed as incomplete, but I have not received an email asking for anything. No clue what any of this means

Then again, it was also incomplete for Cornell and I received a likely letter from them last Friday. Ugh we all need to relax

Pretty easy to relax with a likely letter from an Ivy… for the rest of us without likelies, ehh…

@chaseiscool, we are discussing recieved => received - review in progress => received - satisfied. Are you IDOC documents in any of these status? It appears not.

I haven’t find any similar leads from different colleges. Not sure why you consider Cornell and Dartmouth are similar.

Lmao, I am sorry I offended you. You are right, I suppose my post was inappropriate. Just giving some information about the status just like everybody else. My IDOC has been sent recently, it is just still listed as incomplete, and all of my other documents did go through the received => received - review in progress => received - satisfied process.

I do not “consider Cornell and Dartmouth are similar”, and I did not mean to sound arrogant, which I now realize I did. I apologize for that. I just meant to give hope to some people who may have received no email or anything to suggest the email may be no indication, regardless of the school. However, I understand that it very well might be, so congratulations to those who received one.

I have seen other people post information that is similar to mine, so I’m not sure why you are getting so booty-tickled over my post.

Also, @HONORLIONS, you got this. Best of luck to you, I imagine that you will hear favorable news on the 28th. Cheers.

@chaseiscool: We can hope, I guess. Nothing else gives me any extra assurance to do otherwise. Guess that’s just life!

I think this deserves some special recognition…

I’m defintely waitlisted/rejected - my status literally hasn’t updated since the 6th. All my forms in review. God damn.

Alright everyone, I have an update.

As of yesterday my financial aid status read:
IDOC- missing/unsatisfied (unsure of what the exact wording was) as of February 6th.
CSS- received and satisfied
FAFSA- received and satisfied

As of tonight my financial aid status reads:
CSS- received and satisfied
FAFSA-received and satisfied
IDOC Submission- received- review in progress as of March 20th
Signed copy of student’s 2012 federal tax return- received- review in progress as of March 20th
Signed custodial parents’ 2012 Federal Income Tax Return- received-review in progress as of March 20th
Student’s federal W-2 forms- received-review in progress as of March 20th.

Now I’m really confused. Not expecting an acceptance anways

LOL this kind of conversation goes on every single year. Srsly though, the colleges should be smart enough to figure out to not show any signs of admission status through financial aid or other means…Or, why don’t someone just call them and ask them does FA status have anything to do w/ admissions (although I’m sure they will say no…).

If the school wants to tip its hand, it will send you a likely letter. Trying to read anything into the FA process is like reading dried out tea leaves in a blizzard. Wait for the day. You are not going to make yourself calmer or happier by trying to glean meaning from the action and non-actions of the FA people.

I hope you guys realize this thread is just to pass some time and provide information for next year’s applicants. I don’t think anyone is stressing over this. Hopefully we can stop the “You guys need to calm down!” posts now. Everyone is calm and as much as it seems we’re stressing out reading into this, I really don’t think anyone is.
It’s okay to talk about this in a casual manner and doesn’t mean we’re reading into tea leaves in a blizzard or a crystal ball. You’re welcome to not participate if you feel this thread is wasting your time.
And to the guy who’s status changed on the 20th - maybe the 20th is significant, I don’t know.

^ word. Like I said, I’m just interested in solving the mystery, so to speak. The real moment of truth will come next Thursday.

Since you guys say the reason for all this speculation is to help the next set, I’ll bite.
Here’s my own experience with Dartmouth’s FA office.
On Wednesday last week, I received the same generic email requesting some missing documents that most of you did. When I checked it, I noticed that Received- in review was written next to every document so I ignored it.
On Friday, I received a personalized email explaining that I would have to submit all my documents again because the ISFAA was incomplete, or something like that anyway. I sent them in this Monday. When I checked my financial aid status today, I noticed that all my documents were Received (or was it Reviewed) and satisfied.
Yeah that’s it. I’m not going to start extrapolating and getting my hopes up over it. The decisions will be out next week. I’ll deal with them then.

My D '16 received the e-mail from FAOffice last year (March 2012) requesting additional information. D received acceptance letter from DC. So for her - that was the harbinger of the exciting news. Good Luck!

Did she receive it in early March?
