Email Regarding Financial Aid = Good sign?

Seems like the Title IV Student Aid Account Authorization is a form that authorizes Dartmouth to receive any Federal Aid the student receives and use it towards paying tuition expenses at Dartmouth for that student. Just Google it up! Haha!!

I’d say it is a good sign .But the large number of people on this thread itself - who have that form pending, maybe points to the fact that Dartmouth’s FA office is just overly efficient and wants to have all documents ready to dole out financial aid - once the decisions have been made!!

Either way, International student here - so no Title IV form & so lesser worries!! :D

even though I didn’t apply for financial aid, the fact that I don’t have Title IV Student Aid Account Authorization in my portal means I’ve probably already been phased out…

haha oh well at least I gave it a shot

@volynsal1: I wouldn’t read too much into it! this post is about the correlation between a specific set of circumstances (Applying for aid, missing documents, and receiving that email) and acceptance, and only for Dartmouth. And even that correlation might be unmerited lol! though historically, the connection between these two specific things are quite strong in the (very) small sample of applicants in CC.

But again, I wouldn’t think much of it!

The title IV is a generic form. Every student who is a US citizen/permanent resident is eligible for federal aid ranging from Pell grants to unsubsidized direct loans. The form just states that if you do receive federal aid, that the aid will first be used to pay eligible expenses to the school (and overage would be returned to the student).

^ Which is what I said. If the student receives federal aid, Dartmouth can use it in his/her aid package.

:)

Any updates about this? It’s been about 2 weeks since I got the email, but no likely. Anyone else in a similar position?

I thought there would be a final round of likely letters around this time but maybe we’ll just have to wait until the 28th

So, let me get this right, “Title IV Student Account Authorization” set as “Received - review in progress” means nothing? I don’t even remember sending in this form… huh

Just got one yesterday night at 10:30 PM CST because I live in WI but in eastern time it would be 11:30 PM! Haha, I just don’t see them auto-sending something so late at night…although it is possible…I am so confused. The way the letter is worded is suspicious to me. The thing is though, if this letter is a possible indication, I’m shocked because my stats are SO low that I honestly didn’t expect to be admitted. Dartmouth is a SUPER-MEGA-reach for me lol.

Hi guys, just my two cents-
My Dartmouth FA portal says some of my documents are “Received - review in progress” after receiving a missing documents email. I hope this is a good sign but I’m not going to get excited. I’d just like to point out that as these systems are electronically handled, a computer could be doing scans and automatically sending emails out once it has found missing elements.

I’d also like to point out that UChicago communicated with my parents and I during their financial aid review (before the EA results day) and asked some personal questions to get more information. That’s when I suspected I had gotten in, and I did. Also, a FA employee from Tufts recently sent a somewhat personal email asking a FA question. If I were you guys, I’d put more trust in individualized emails that suggests someone is building your package, rather than ones that sound even remotely automated. Especially if other people are getting those exact emails, too.

What does “Received - review in progress” mean opposed to “Recieved and Satisfied”?

Thank you for being the voice of reason, I was on the brink of getting worked up over nothing. I’ll try keep my emotions guarded. 28th here we come!

@jabberwoo123: I only have received and satisfied as well. Pretty confident that strikes us out as admits =/

My hope (and dear god am I praying/hoping) is that they only review after they have enough information sent in from us - I have a laundry list of stuff from Title IV to W2s to send in, only having satisfied FAFSA/CSS, so perhaps they’re just waiting to begin?

Anyone else want to chime in on this theory? “In review” people, any of you send in ONLY CSS/FAFSA?

I only sent in FAFSA/CSS. Please don’t worry yourself yet. On other forums I’ve read many get no notification at all and still get admit letters. I’d hate for us all to get into a frenzy over an EVIL computer… How dare it torture us so!

The documents I’ve sent in say “Reviewed and Satisfied” as well. Scratch that. Honor did you get the “incomplete finaid documents, but still in deliberation for admission” email too?

Are you just saying that or is that really true? Cause that kinda is a hit haha

And yep, same email. No specific forms/documents, just told me to go check my stuff.

Yes, but, we don’t really know what “review” means so, that’s pretty arbitrary. Does every applicant get “reviewed” on their FA?

^ That’s kind of the major, underlying debate here…

If all of them do get reviewed, email regarding financial does not equal anything. If only admits get reviewed, this email could signify something.

Well, I am being reviewed, and I did not get the email.

Holy molly, typo. Recieved and Satisfied I mean’t to type. So sorry. LOL. 0_0
