Email=rejection?

Has anyone been accepted to American who did get that “AU Advisor” email?
I never got that email and a lot of people said they did, was that basically an email they are sending to all students they are planning on accepting? If i never got that does that mean im getting rejected? Sorry this sounds so crazy, im just freaking out now that decisions are being sent out.

My accepted d never got that e mail.

My daughter got that email but did not get an email last night congratulating her on being accepted, so that AU advisor email meant NOTHING.

My D got the AU advisor one, but has not heard anything on admissions, although her transcript had to be resent and I think her HS may have only sent it in yesterday. The whole process is nerve-wracking for sure.
I am sure there are more acceptances out there for AU hopefuls!

I certainly hope that you are correct wakeme. American is my D first choice even though it is a bit of a stretch. Can I get some opinions on her stats? 1910 SAT, 3.5 GPA with an upward trend (medical issues beginning of high school; addressed in essay), great essay, good teacher recs, great art portfolio, some EC including springboard diving.

Correction on that GPA - It is only a 3.3

I think she sounds solid - great EC! The upward trend thing is good - ironically my D has had some med issues this year, which will be reflected somewhat in her grades, but she will include an explanation with her mid-year rpts - thank goodness she was pretty solid coming into her senior year - it is never easy is it?

This waiting game is killing us!!! Someone on another thread called AU today and was told that the acceptances are going out randomly for the next week to week and a half. Nothing like keeping us hanging by a thread for a while longer. I also don’t think that they are random. They are sending out the acceptances to the students that they really want first, I am sure, just like every other school. In order to compete for those top students, they have to.

I just posted a reply on an old thread to bump it up on the list…if you look at the notification thread from last year, there were acceptances being sent over a couple of weeks (later replies even to kids with merit aid)…

I’m in the same boat 3daughters…

3 Moms…I think it might be random, or maybe geographic. Def not based on how much they ‘want you’. The top students are not going to be swayed by an earlier admission notice. My D got accepted via email yesterday. She is a top student. Her friend also got the email, for her American was a reach. So really, I think it might have as much to do with what adcom person was assigned the file as anything else. Dont give up hope yet, you might be pleasantly surprised.

My D got an email acceptance last night. I had a question for financial aid this am and called the office. They said that I should receive the letter (with FA) in the next “week or two.”

Imontoya: thanks for the clarification. And if you dont mind me asking…how BIG of a reach was American for your daughter’s friend?

*Bigtalker.
Pretty big reach. Her SAT’s (I was led to believe) were below what is reported as the median 50%. Her GPA however is/was decent (I was told). Not 4.0 range, but not below 3.0uw. hope that brings you hope.

@3Daughters:

I’m a current student at AU, and those stats look very similar to the ones I had when I got in 2 years ago; right now its still early going for acceptances, they are usually sent in waves, so just hold tight, and hopefully we’ll see your D at AU in the fall!

Spoke w AU admissions today. They are still sending out acceptances.

ckingston9… thank you so much for that bit of hope. We were thinking that American was a reach for my D, but you have to apply to some reach schools. When I scheduled a visit to the campus, she didn’t even want to go because she did not want a school “in a city”. Both of us were so pleasantly surprised that she liked the school. She liked it so much that it is her first choice. Unfortunately this was decided after early decision deadline. We will continue to keep our fingers crossed. Thanks again.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they’re geographic. I go to a public school in MD from which about 10 people applied and we all heard at the same time.

I don’t think it’s geographic. my friend and I applied. I got in and she hasn’t received anything yet
