I just received an email this morning requesting that I tell my counselor to fax my first quarter grades to the admissions office. I was pretty sure that Cornell didn't require first quarter grades.

Did anyone else get the same email?

Does this mean anything? My first quarter grades were actually exceptional (my best gpa in any quarter of high school), but I'm wondering what it means that they are requesting the grades. Perhaps I'm on the fence...

Dangit I’m screwed.
my grades are practically all B’s… I was planning on pulling some of them up ;-;

EDIT: I just checked and some of them aren’t supposed to be B’s at all…
I was absent and my make up work accounts for a lot of zeroes ATM.
omg if this is what’s being sent… I’m so screwed. No A’s AT ALL.

It’s normally not required for ED, but sometimes when they are interested and need additional information to make the final decision they will request for your interim grades. It’s a good sign if you did well the first quarter.

They don’t ask for it from every applicant. I would imagine if you are a shoo in then there is no reason for additional information, and if you are a definite reject then there is no reason to ask for it either.

My kids school sends interim grades whether they ask for it or not. If you have very good interim grades that maybe additional information worth sharing with adcom.
