Email to wait listed students

Did any other wait listed students get an email from the dean that included quotes from a girl who was accepted off the wait list? Just curious. I thought the email was kind of interesting/uplifting/potentially a tease!

I got it. does that mean anything?

I really hope so! Does anyone have any ideas about it? This is the email:

Hello, XXXXXXX. This is the first in a series of informative email messages I'll be sending you over the next few weeks. The email series will feature perspectives from several current Emory students who were originally on the wait list in previous years. I hope you find them helpful and insightful.

Today's email features a message from Sara, who was accepted from Emory's wait list.

"I was kind of disappointed when Emory contacted me and told me I was wait-listed. I wondered if they didn't think I was smart enough to handle their course work.

"Then Emory offered me a place in the first-year class. I was thrilled, and I love it here! I've enjoyed my classes, and my grades are excellent. Don't get me wrong, my classes aren't easy, but it's all about the amount of effort you put into studying.

"Because I was on Emory's wait list like you, my advice would be to stay in contact with Emory. This doesn't mean calling and emailing the admission office daily. However, you should take this opportunity to show you're truly interested.

"I'm glad I got to share some wisdom with you. Good luck!"

Many thanks to Sara for her insight. Be on the lookout for a weekly email message from me.

Sincerely,
Jean D. Jordan
Dean of Admission
Emory University

I didn't get any e-mail, which worries me!

for the two of you that did get it, were you waitlisted from RD or EDII?

RD. Did you check your spam folder?

whenever I get something classified as junk e-mail my e-mail lets me know. :/

well, I was waitlisted from EDII so perhaps that has something to do with it.

I got one too. I dont think it means anything. Its just a random update

yea, i also got one. Its probably just meant to keep everyone on the waitlist from calling too much.

Does anyone know how many people Emory waitlisted this year?

I talked to two people from admissions who said that in comparison to previous years, this year they put less people on the waiting list. One of them also said they actually rejected more students.

I don't know if this is legit, but a friend of mine who volunteers at the Emory admissions office told me there's 600 students on the waiting list.

Good friend from San Diego accepted to Emory today...but he turned it down for an almost full ride to UCI.

Waitlist action is being taken! Good luck!

Did anyone get the 2nd email from Emory about the wait list?

Did you get any 2nd email for waitlist? is there anyone got accepted from waitlist?

Yes, I did today during school. And apparently the Emory wait list is active, as several people on CC has mentioned people they know who have gotten in

someone i know received a call today saying that she got in
goodluck to all who are waiting

blahhh90: is she a URM/what state is she from?

i wonder how they contact students that are not in the US. =/

wow, people are already finding out about decisions....
my heart is set on oxford, but i wonder if my decision would be affected if i got in through the waitlist. studying abroad would be difficult if i went to oxford....hmmmm

and this also makes me wonder if i gave an accurate phone number to the waitlist committee...hmmmmm

freakin out here

Yeah, do they call you on the number that you wrote when you sent in your wait list acceptance? I gave my cell phone because I obviously don't want to miss the call! Also, like what time of the day do they call?
