I don't know what they call, but you get an email. My OPUS account isn't showing anything different, though, since I got off the waitlist...

LookingForward: congrats!! What time did you get the email...?

they're notifying already? wow....i hate life.

3ish yesterday. I don't know if they call or not, since I was away from home at the time.

I got the email and the call yesterday too. I'm not gonna accept the offer though.

I know how you feel, cherrypie...

so, is the notification a continual thing or was yesterday it?

Thank you for declining the offer radyland hahaha! It's not time to start freaking out yet. They only started calling people a few days ago, and as radyland demonstrates, not everyone they call is accepting admission. Also, people have between 3 days and a week to decide, so I would assume that factor causes some delay in the process. They can't call more people until the people they have already called give them an answer.

Do you think they conduct wait list activity on the weekends/Saturdays?

heh. i called them 24 hours ago and they said they're waitlist will START next week.

They also said that they'll email AS WELL as call.

were they lying when they said that it'll start next week?

Well, I got the email and they gave me 48 hours to decide... but then said that due to my app for finaid, I got 24 hours after that got sent out next week. That is what they probably meant, S_N

oh b/c i'm a finaid applicant. cool.

I really just hope they call me. Emory is my first choice!

I actually went to visit Emory right after I learned that I was waitlisted.
And one of the admissions officer said 2,000 students are currently on the waitlist. I was shocked.

i9nature, i went to visit Emory soon after i was waitlisted as well. Heck of a campus.

I myself didn't ask for the number of waitlisted students, but another poster said the number was about a quarter of what you said. Whatever the case may be, its an uphill battle for sure

actually if you look...the CD for Emory is out....i think they are almost done with the waitlist....

a) Like I said before, two admissions officers (who I talked to separately) said they wait listed less people this year than last year. I highly doubt there are 2000 people on the list, since that is far more than any other year (it's usually like 800 people on the list I believe).
b) The common data set was for the freshman class of 2007, not 2008.

p.s CD = common data

I'm just waiting on them to send out the finaid. I hope they saved some for the waitlist kids...

Just got it, 3.5K in estimated loans. Any clue how this ends up being finalized? Is it more or less?

Congrats! I don't know how much it ends up being, but I don't see how it could be less if that's the amount they offered you! Do you think you are going to accept the offer? Don't worry, I won't hold it against you if you do! =)
