did anyone have trouble logging in to your email account? I’ve used the correct username and password, but I’m still not allowed to log in. Do I need to download a particular version of Outlook, or does it have something to do with cookies? any suggestions would be great. thanks!

Here's what stumped me last year. If your name is John Smith, then your email is John_Smith@brown.edu, but when you log in, you type "jsmith" as your username. Hope that helps!

are you trying this on email.brown.edu that's where i go to check my e-mail.

yep, sure am! and I'm using username ala "jsmith"...if there's nothing else left to try, i think ill just go the good ol route of calling the cis help desk. thanks for your suggestions!

just called today...fyi..usernames, depending on whether you used a full name to apply to brown, sometimes include your middle initial as well.

I'm still stumped... I can't quite figure out how to get my mail to Outlook!

Sort of off topic, but I hiiiiighly recommend getting all your mail forwarded to a Gmail account. That's what I did. My top 3 reasons why:

1) Gmail keeps all your conversations grouped together, so you can easily reference them. This is very handy because you WILL be emailing a lot for your extracurriculars, professor communications, etc etc.

2) Brown gives you about 2MB of space. Maybe 20MB. Idk. Something minisclue. Gmail gives me 2756MB and counting...

3) There's an easy thing Gmail has that lets you send outgoing mail from another address. Basically, if I'm ever contacting someone and I want the email to say "@brown.edu", I click one thing and I'm done.

If you need an invite, let me know: AdamHRobbins@gmail.com

i think brown gives you 50mb, still much smaller than gmail, but its pretty manageable
