Did anyone else get an email inviting them to the Mt. David Summit later in March? Does this mean anything in regards to admissions?

My son got it, but who knows? Probably doesn't mean anything -- but if it's inviting kids who are about to be rejected, that's kind of mean, isn't it?

what is this summit thing again? someone please explain--thanks

I got it, but it said it was open to the public, so.

The Mt. David Summit is an annual event during which seniors,( and many juniors, sophs, even some first-years), present their thesis work, or sometimes their work from the summer or semester abroad. There is a huge poster session, and also seminars/presentations. Last year there was a great bunch of short environmental films made by Batesies, talks about research in all different fields, etc. It's a great event, and IS open to the public. It will be held this Friday afternoon in Pettingill Hall (the big newish building in the center of campus overlooking the "puddle." If you're in the area........it's worth a visit to get an idea of the fabulous work being done at Bates.

thanks so much

Me and my friend didn't get one but our other friend did. Hope that isn't a bad thing.

are your bates "log-ins" to check app status still working?

My application status log in is still working. Is yours not?

mine is too.......

I'm applying to transfer to Bates (from Smith College), so I went through the whole regular app process already. I'll just be honest with all of you (this isnt specific to Bates...) but with all of the colleges I applied to last year (Smith, Bowdoin, Brandeis, Hamilton, Conn College...etc) if they say they dont post it online, they dont. If your account starts acting funky, dont get worried--or too excited. Its not a sign. And the whole mt. david summit thing--dont take that as a sign either.

I know its hard to wait--take it from a person who was quite possibly one of the most stressed out high school seniors everrr. But just wait til its in the mailbox and then you can go crazy. Best of luck to all of you, I can't wait to find out from Bates about my transfer app!!!

I know that Bates won't post their decisions online--but Colby's log-in stopped working and they put an announcement up about when decisions would be available, and now you can't check your app status anymore. I wasn't sure that since Bates had put up the announcement in the news section they would turn off the log-ins as well. Mine is working again, though.

I don't know anything about this particular e-mail, but I know last year when I got a letter about the Mount David Summit, it specifically said it was likely that I would be admitted in a few weeks. Now I think the letter might have been more significant in my case because I know the Mount David Summit was on the same day as an accepted student's day last year, but it still may have significance. We will have to see once all the acceptance letters roll in if the e-mail shows anything.

Not to get everyone all excited or anything, but with adjustments for year change, today was the day that I received my letter of acceptance last year. I can't guarantee that the same thing will happen this year, but if you live in New England, you might consider running to your mailbox today.
Good luck to everyone!
