I got this email today. Does this mean that they're going to put me in Oxford and not in Emory? Does it indicate if at all if my chances at emory college are diminished?

March 3, 2004

Dear Emory College Applicant:

Many students who apply to Emory College do not realize that Emory University offers two options for undergraduate liberal arts admission-Emory College and Oxford College. We are delighted that you have applied to Emory College. You may also want to look at Oxford College, another division of Emory University admitting talented high school seniors. Oxford¿s living/learning community offers a curriculum which is academically equivalent to that offered during the first two years at Emory College. Students who complete the Oxford program may choose to continue at Emory College or they may apply to either of Emory¿s other two undergraduate divisions as juniors-Goizueta School of Business or the Nell Hodgson School of Nursing. Moreover, during the first two years of college, Oxford students have many opportunities to build leadership skills, participate in the performing arts, interact with faculty, and enroll in Theory/Practice/Service Learning and Interim courses. Oxford is loc!
ated on Emory¿s original campus, forty miles east of Atlanta, and offers the best of both worlds, a small college environment and the resources of an internationally acclaimed research university.

Please visit the Oxford college website at www.emory.edu/OXFORD for more information about this unique opportunity offered by Emory University. During the spring, the Oxford Office of Admission hosts several opportunities for students and their parents to learn more about the Oxford experience and they would love to have you join them. Oxford is on rolling admission after February 1st each year. Please contact Mary Tipton Harding, Assistant Director of Admission and Recruitment at mthardi@emory.edu or call 1-800-723-8328 or 770-784-8328 for more information about this option.

Sincerely,

Daniel C. Walls
Dean of Admission

I don't think they can "put" you at Oxford. They have a seperate admission office. Maybe you should call and ask? Good luck.

I wouldn't sweat it too much-I think I received the same e-mail (or maybe a real mailing) when I applied and I'm a Scholar at Emory now.

anyone else here at emory who received this email prior to matriculation?

i definitely got the same email today as well.

i got it too.

Me too. Hm..someone who sent this was in a hurry...

" Oxford is loc!
ated on Emory¿s original "

They didn't bother reading it. That sort of makes me feel like it's leaning towards the negative side?

yeah i got it.. but the "we are delighted that you applied" doesn't sound like a rejection letter..rejection letters say "thank you for your interest"

"Thank you for your interest."

HEH. More like:

"Thank you for your $60. The new coffee machine in the admissions office is a work of modern art."

think of how many coffee machines they could buy with all the application fees...

Not A Rejection-everyone Got One

LOL sabnetwork :D

is it a bad sign that when i click on opus for pay deposit it says
No matching values were found.

mdg1987:

Wrong link. The "real" deposit link is on the Admissions page.

Click "My OPUS" on the top-right navigation bar.

Click "Admissions" (bottom-left).

If you have it, it will be after the "Course Catalog and Schedule" section.

yeah i dont have the deposit thing there either- is this a really bad sign

Read the thread "OPUS Admissions Deposit Link: Accepted?"

In a word, no.
