How do I create my stanford email address?

yes, i want to know this too

Did you get a letter from Stanford explaining how to create a SUNet ID?

after you create your SUNet ID (you need to get a letter for this), go to:

webmail.stanford.edu

Sign in with your SUNet ID. If you have sent in your deposit for enrollment, then you should be able to login to your email account after a couple of weeks.

i hate my SUNet ID. How do I change it?!?!

^ Unfortunately, you cannot. It is permanent. But why does it matter? aren't you going to MIT?

Nghi, you can change it or at the least get another one, I know that for sure. I just don't know how.

i dont think you can change it...but you can make up to three aliases...but the aliases have to end with your last name...

so...if you were john smith it'd have to be like blahblahsmith@stanford.edu....

no i'm not going to MIT paul. why does everyone think i am?!

"why does everyone think i am?!".............. LOL.
I was referring to what Zik was referring to.

I bet if you call Stanford they will let you change your SUNet ID, since it's so early and you haven't really used it for anything yet. Just say your parent opened the letter and did it for you because you were out of town, but he or she didn't do what you wanted.

I like the way you think, Turtle.

I thought you were going to MIT because you did RSI. Sorry my bad!

Hi guys,

get your university id, go to sunetid.stanford.edu, create a sunet id. It's super hard to change it, but I think you can at this stage if you submit a helpSU ticket

all the others are just email aliases...and they're punctuation insensitive, so s-omeone=some.one=someone@stanford.edu

useful sites to know on this topic:
webmail.stanford.edu
stanfordwho.stanford.edu
stanfordyou.stanford.edu
my.stanford.edu

Ya, I got my Stanford e-mail address working. You can choose your SUnetid which becomes your e-mail address. The only thing I didn't like is that your SUnetid cannot be more than 8 characters long so your e-mail address username also has to be limited to 8 characters.

Does anyone agree with me that the email account layout is hideous?

the stanford's layout is just like the MIT's layout. I wouldn't say hideous though if so many universities preferred it.

haha i think they could definitely work on it

and your email address can be longer than 8 characters (mine's 9)--make sure your sunet id is short as possible, though, to save yourself all that typing. then just set up email aliases on stanfordyou

anyone else's email not working yet? i sent in my deposit over 3 weeks ago... shouldn't it be working by now? i already set up my SUNet ID, so i have no clue why webmail isn't working. help please? anyone? anyone? (haha, we watched ferris bueller's day off in english today, and i think the part where ben stein keeps saying, "anyone? anyone?" is hilarious. :P sorry, complete tangent.)

hehe

go to stanfordyou.stanford.edu and check to see if your account's full or base. if it's base, no webmail for you...yet...
