I found a professor at a local university that I'd really like to work with over the summer. I think I'm going to email him and ask him for an unpaid internship? Does anyone know what I should say and what I should attach i.e. grades or EC's idk test scores? What should I include in my email? Has anyone emailed professors before like for NIH since it seems like a lot of people just emailed for NIH's internships.
Thanks!!

I did that to find a mentor at my local university for the science fair. What I put was my past creditials (research experience), grades, and any other special awards (don't put stuff like student of the month! Most of the time, the professor is very nice and will allow you work in his lab, but to be on the safe side, I would email more than one just in case the one you want doesn't have any space or time to work with a high school student.
Go online and email several perspective professors, and ask them if you can work with them. It's better to have two say yes, than none at all.
