Emailing program directors for info?

It is okay to email directors of programs that I’m interested in transferring to if I have a specific question about the program that’s not on the website? I emailed a director and never received a reply, and the info I need would help my essay. I’m wondering if I should have contacted admissions instead with the question.

I’m curious for future reference at this point, since I haven’t started on some other apps yet

My kids have emailed undergrad advisors or deans of programs they are interested in. They ask specific, not general, questions and/or ask to arrange for a time for a meeting in person.

Maybe you can try calling them? I called in and received lots of helpful information from the departments I was interested in. See if you can get an answer there.
