Everyone gets a bunch of emails from colleges right after they take the psat junior year.

My question is are these emails just spam and do they show that the colleges that sent them actually have a interest in you?

I tend to ignore them. If a college is really interested in me they will bother to personally write an email to me or at least send me something in the mail. For colleges you are interested in applying to, email can be a good way to keep tabs on everything that’s going on.

College Board has a Student Search Service that makes info available to colleges. Schools use this to generate mailing lists of student who meet the criteria they set.
