"The NCAA attempted to bluff Penn State into accepting severe sanctions in 2012 due to the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal, according to internal emails recently released in a court case. The internal emails between high-ranking NCAA officials, first reported by Onward State, show that some people in the NCAA office believed the association did not have jurisdiction to punish Penn State." ...

@Dave_Berry Been following this for past 2 years and makes me sick that the BOE and powers that be never questioned NCAA authority and were so quick to accept the punishment handed down to them. Like U Miami they should have kept their ground. So many things wrong here that can never be reversed no matter how much might come back such as the wins and fines. But how sweet it will be when and if the hammer comes down on Emmert and the NCAA and Louis Freeh. I am not a JoePa lover nor a huge lover of football but to punish the current players and be bullied by the organization that is supposed to be protecting athletes is a crying shame. Thank God no player has been seriously injured due to an uneven playing field. Too bad all the news media especially ESPN who was so quick to hang PSU hardly mentioned this new story. I can go on and on with all this so will end here and say I pray justice is served and everyone has their day in court as it should have been in the first place.

And now the news today that Freeh and the NCAA were in contact regarding the Freeh report! I was critical of JoePa when the news came out, and I still wish he’d done more, but the NCAA sanctions were illegal.
