Hello, my girlfriend needs to choose between Davis and Syracuse and she likes so many different qualities about both schools that she just can't make a decision. She decided that whichever school is better for her major will be the one she will attend. Her major is Classics. Does anyone know which school has a better Classics department? I've been looking for rankings but can't find any. Thank you!

[NRC Rankings in Classics](http://www.stat.tamu.edu/~jnewton/nrc_rankings/area2.html)

Neither university appears on that list, but at Davis should could take classes at Cal or UCLA for a semester or quarter. All UC students have that option Not only that but Davis has its own department whereas Syracuse stuffs classics in the Languages department.

Davis also has three times as many people in their department 6-2 faculty-wise.

And Davis is ranked a bit higher.

UC Davis IMHO

Thank you for your quick response!

You’re welcome
I happened to be online. Best of Luck to your GF and tell her to look into the option to spend a quarter or semester at one of the other UC’s during a quarter when they have good Classics classes. She could even email the professors on the other campuses.

I would say go to Syracuse…do you know what she wants to do and where she wants to live..i’s kind of a west coast east coast thing
