Emergency--late submission

My brother is applying to Cornell and their deadline's the usual, right? His high school called to say that they can't guarantee that all of his forms will be sent on time to every college that he's applying to, because he did not give his counselor enough time to process those forms. That is his fault. But now, what can be done? If he submits electronically the Common App by the deadline, and the school's paper stuff does not arrive by the deadline, can his app be salvaged? If the school's paper stuff is late, does it absolutely have to be postmarked by the deadline?

I'm guessing so.

As long as he has a file created for him before the deadline (by submitting both parts of the Common App) then he will get some time for his counselors to fill in the rest of the app.

I’m pretty sure that the counselor forms are submitted directly on CommonApp.

colleges give schools and teachers a small grace period since they know they’re overloaded with work right now.
