The only issue is that I won't be taking any Jewish classes anymore. I've been harrased for advocating for Darfur okay, for standing up for people who say "it smells gay in here" ( I am not gay myself) people hanged signs around the school that said " high five genocide". That's just one example.

This is at a JEWISH private school? I can't believe that of all schools people would endorse genocide at a Jewish school. When will people learn.

Woww... a school with an overwhelming majority of students supporting genocide is news to me.

I'd say, seek all the help you can get from teachers, parents, and GCs. Although it might not solve the problem just tough it out till summer, focus on your studies, find something outside of school that you ABSOLUTELY love and try to enjoy the rest of the year as much as possible.

I have tried going to the admin and actually sat in the room with one of the students who was harrasing me. The student's response to everything was that he likes to get a reaction out of me, he said that infront of the assistant principle and gc.

Ok, so, stop reacting. Some people and situations just suck. If it causes your grades to suffer, let Columbia know...my advice would be to stick it out silently. Pick your battles...not this one...

I've been silent long enough. I am on student council and I plan all these social action programs. I've been planning the MLK assembly alone with some help from the diversity club of this other school. At this point I'd like to focus on my studies and my activities outside of school, and I am even considering resiging from student council.

It shouldn't have. All races and religions seem to have their share of hatred, sadly. Since these are young people, there is some chance they will learn better someday.

Keep in mind, though, that you don't have to deal with this crap much longer and that, unlike those in Darfur, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I know next year may seem like an eternity now - but it will come faster than you think.

"I've been silent long enough. "
No, you've stirred things up and made people uncomfortable. Good for you. You can develop a thicker skin or you can take a semester off and lay low. Both ok. We're rooting for you either way.
