hey people have been telling me i wont get into the smith school of business

i applied to smith finance through EA (feb 1st decision made)

my question is

whats the deal

do i just get flat out rejected

do i get waitlisted

do i get deferred

do i get deferred to CAS

im confused

and when are decisions posted

feb 1st exactly

or sooner

im so nervous, im freaking out

Wow, quite an “Emergency!!!” situation…

Three things could happen for you:
-You could get accepted to the Smith School of Business (and obviously therefore accepted to UMD).
-You could get accepted to UMD but not get into the business school, in which case you would be accepted into Letters and Sciences as an “undecided” major.
-You could get rejected from UMD.

If they say decisions will be posted 2/1, they will probably be posted then. Might be a few days earlier. Nobody can give you an exact, definite answer.

Two other pieces of advice: Don’t take what people say as a definite. There’s always a chance. Also, you should probably try to relax about this since it’s still 6 weeks til you’ll get your decision.

To add to poster above:
Not that many people always get directly admitted, especially to Smith since it’s so popular/competive/hard to get into. If you don’t get in you just have to take the gateway courses and maintain a high GPA and then apply after your 2nd or 3rd semester.

Not getting in could be an opportunity for you to take the CORE classes early and explore different subjects before you lock in a major. It will make it easier to change you mind and major later on.
