Emerson BA versus BFA

Can anyone tell me whether it's easier or the same to get into the Emerson BA program as compared to the BFA? I realize that they are both by audition only, but I'm wondering whether one or the other is more selective and what the actual numbers are.

I'm also wondering whether the BA program takes more students by early action than the BFA program, which I understand takes very few.

One more question for any Emerson experts out there... my D is leaning toward applying EA to the BA program, but wants to have a program that can include musical theatre and some dance. Does anyone know whether the Emerson BA is strictly for acting, or whether it can be tailored to fit individual interests?

Thanks!

good question.

I’m also considering Emerson for BA. I know in some schools that have both BA and BFA programs the students in the BA program feel a bit neglected. Has anyone heard about this with Emerson?

bump

We have a friend from two years ago who auditioned for the BFA program at Emerson, and was offered the BA instead. She thought long and hard (I know she had a couple of BFA offers, but I don’t remember where) but Emerson was her far and away top choice- so she decided to go for it. Fast forward two years- she LOVES it there, and seems to have had a number of cool performance opportunities- including plenty of singing and dancing
