They have indeed begun to post decisions as of today! My daughter was accepted as a Media Production major. She also receive two of their top merit awards.

Has anyone heard of an MT Acceptance? Just thought I’d post on the general just in case. Have only heard of MT deferrals (Including S2) - not the end of the road, just not the day we had hoped for. Congratulations to all who got the yes today!

Emerson College decisions are live online as of over an hour ago today! We live in MA.
My son got in for Film and Video and we are all very excited!
He’s done a lot in film on his own and this past summer at NYU Tisch film program. His stats are good: gpa 3.8 weighted (competitive public school in Boston area) and 2150 SATs, 32 ACT.
Hope to hear good news for everyone!

Hi guys! I just got my acceptance via the online Application Portal!

Didn’t get any merit money, but wasn’t expecting any.

My stats - 88.7/100 GPA, unweighted with AP classes (I go to the #1 high school VT so it’s very competitive with challenging classes)
30 ACT
White female
Decent amount of EC’s and over 200 hours of community service.
I can’t remember which major I applied to, I think it was journalism!
Good luck everyone!!

rejected, I was kind of expecting it but it’s whatever. I was a little skeptical about spending over $200,000 on something that takes 5 days to learn by just observation.

Accepted as a Communication Disorders major! Also got into the Honors program, with the Trustee half off scholarship. So excited about this and congratulations to everyone with good news, you all deserve it!!!

Also, I’m really not sure how to do the whole official stats format thing, as it confuses me. So, I’m just going to put down the stats I think helped me get in.

SAT: 1840 (superscore)
GPA: 3.6 UW
APs: 10 (World, USH, Government and Pol, English Lang, English Lit, Envi Sci, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, European History, Calc AB)
Hooks: URM (African American), single parent home? (Dad passed of cancer earlier in 2013)

My essay was probably what pushed me into the honors program. Anyway, again, congrats everyone!

Accepted as a Writing for Film and Television Major!
I’ll post stats a little later but I just had a question. It said at this time they didn’t have a decision on Honors College and they said they couldn’t offer me merit aid. Does this mean I’m in consideration for the Honors College and the Trustee’s scholarship that goes with that or does that mean I am out of the running completely? Thanks for your input and Congrats to all admitted!

My son was also accepted without merit money and it also said that his application was still be considered for the Honors College. I was thinking that they are probably waiting to see what the regular decision applicant pool looks like. Unfortunately, it is my son’s first choice but without any money we will have to take it off the table :(

Yes, my D was accepted into the MT program. Other friend with same academics from same town deferred although VERY talented. No scholarship but didn’t apply for one. At auditions they said slightly better chance to get in EA but being deferred you are still really in the mix with those who apply & audition regular decision. Fingers crossed for all those still pending.

Congratulations to all on the E.D.'s. My daughter’s application was deferred so we’re still a bit bummed. ACT 31, GPA 3.3, lots of experience in front of and behind the camera and she had really powerful essays. However, her best 2 recommendations weren’t sent out in time so admissions didn’t see them. (Very frustrating!!!) We’re going to our thoughts very positive though and live and learn!

I’m not sure how Emerson handles all this scholarship nonsense, but I was accepted to both the Film program and the Honors Program on EA. Maybe they just take a certain number of people during the December decision, then have a waiting list type system?

Either way, congrats to all those accepted! Hope to see y’all around next year.

Deferred BA Theater Studies. Help? Is there anyone here who got deferred , maybe we could compare stats? And if anyone else here was deferred and has some tips on how to get noticed by admission that would be really helpful! Emerson is my top choice and I’ve been dreaming of going there for two years.
Thanks!

@ScoutCaulfield So we meet on this thread too! I got into the same major & got the same response about the Honors College. I hope there’s still chance, though.

Hello all! This hasnt been used in a bit, but I had a question for those of you accepted, as I am applying RD. For any major in the Media Production (I would probably go Film and Video Production or Writing for Film and TV) do you have to submit a creative sample? On their website it says it is encouraged, but nowhere does it say required. I ask because I do not really have much film experience that I would be willing to submit, as its a somewhat new interest but I know I love it. I am also considering Journalism, Writing Literature and Publishing, or Marketing Communications. Since I have multiple interests, would I be best to apply Undecided? If i applied Media Production, would I be hurt for not having a portfolio?

@MissMaddy No, you don’t HAVE to submit it, but it is ENCOURAGED. If you don’t submit anything, you may be at disadvantage with those who did. I got into Writing and I submitted a short screenplay, and other people I’ve talked to (mostly applying to Production) submitted a video.
That said, you don’t necessarily need experience, they’re looking for storytelling abilities and creativity. It doesn’t need to be of award winning caliber.
Good luck, hope you get in!
