I know the cut program is still in effect (they can call it anything they want) for the BFA at Emerson, but what about the BA? A friend of ours is thinking about doing the BA, but doesn't want to deal with the cut.

Anyone have experience with this? Also, do the BA acting kids get as much consideration for roles as the BFA kids?

I was told that if you’re cut from the BFA (and yeah, they make that sound very unlikely, but…) you can stay in the BA at the school I didn’t directly ask about BA cuts but it didn’t sound like that happened.

I think they cut from the BFA into the BA…so if you do the BA you don’t have to deal with the cut. We know someone who’s in the BA now and is happy there, but this is someone who wouldn’t have liked the intense focus of a BFA. The number of acting courses you can take in the BA is limited, but you can still audition for all the shows, (don’t know how likely the casting is) and take a number of other theater/film courses. And they have a semester in LA that is only available to BA students.
