Hi all. My D just an email from Emerson: "Admission decisions for Regular Decision are now live in the Application Portal."

She was not admitted.

Wait-listed! Hoping BFA acting.

I hope the wait isn’t too long! Congrats!

Do they put the audition results on there as well?

That’s what I’m referring to–the BFA decision.

My D was also waitlisted, for Film. Does anyone know the history or track record for admission later? NYU was her top choice, but that was a reach, Emerson was her real hope, and now we’re just unsure. She has other acceptances but has her heart set here. Has there been a good admittance rate in the past, anywhere to find that out? She already sent back the response that yes, she wanted to be on the list, etc. Any info very welcome.

My D’s friend was accepted off of the Emerson waitlist a couple years ago for Acting. Unfortunately, there was no scholarship $ so he couldn’t afford to attend. He is very happy at Columbia Chicago.

^^One of my advisees was accepted to Columbia Chicago for film/television (with good aid) and was waitlisted today by Emerson. Helpful to know that there may not be funding for kids accepted off the waitlist. My student is visiting CC next week, so fingers crossed that her story will have a similar outcome to your D’s friend!

I was just rejected. Congrats to everyone who was accepted or waitlisted!

Hugs to you, Eve–sounds like Emerson was a tough one this year.

Schools publish something called the “Common Data Set,” which provide a huge amount of data (although it takes some time to find what you might need).

Here’s the 2011 waitlist data for Emerson - I’m sorry, it’s pretty discouraging. I would urge you to ask the admissions office if they can share whether the numbers for 2012 were similar.

My son got his official “no thank” from Emerson today as well. He never felt great about this program, before or after his audition so he had already moved on.

That being said, huge “YAY” to those who were accepted or waitlisted!!!

Likewise my daughter, photomom5…she felt similarly.

My D as well.

S had his admit to BA a while back because he did Early Action. But he was notified today of his financial aid package – which was just the $5500 loan. No other aid, so not really an option for him.

I didn’t feel similarly before my audition. Pre-audition, I really loved the program and the location. I’d talked to some students who adore Emerson. My audition was somewhat off-putting, but it’s certainly too bad to receive a rejection, I liked the program a lot.

I don’t know where I got the idea they were good for aid! Must have been the COA calculator we ran before she applied. It will no longer be an option for my D if there’s no merit aid even if she does miraculously get in of the wait-list :(

I am so sorry Eve, I know it stinks.

That is not quite the merit aid I know you were hoping for, Acting17. Is your son going to to be very disappointed?

Thanks, photomom5. He really liked Emerson (one of his top choices pre-auditions) – and liked it more when he auditioned. But he’d rather have had the BFA acceptance there instead of the BA. He has an excellent BFA option at SUNY Purchase, and he is currently wait-listed at 2 other BFAs - U Minn and Rutgers. And the pricetag on all 3 of those is certainly more palatable than Emerson with no aid – so it’s all good!

Sorry Eve848. :(

I got in!!! BFA acting! I’m really happy because up until now all i had gotten were three rejections from audition and acceptances into a few non auditions. I was really starting to doubt my ability as an actor and the fact that i got in here is so encouraging. Not sure if i will be able to go their because of the cost but if not i will probably go to hoffstra (or possibly a different school if i get int) and be happy knowing that i was good enough to at least get into an audition school :)
