With decisions coming out on December 15th, I thought it would be a good idea to have a place that Emerson Early Action applicants could share statistics, and talk about the school! What is everyone applying for?

What about you?
Hi guys!! I’m also applying early action. I won’t go as in depth about my stats as baldwinhamilton has, but to give a quick synopsis: 3.43 UW GPA, 6.1 W (my school weights out of 7). 28 ACT composite (30 E, 29 R, 23 M, 30 S). I have a good amount of EC’s, with some leadership roles. Also a member of National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society.
A little worried at my chances of admission, but hey, nothing I can do about it now! I’m applying as a creative writing major, and I sent in a portfolio that will hopefully help a bit.
Emerson is definitely my first choice, but unfortunately a lot will have to come down to money.
Hi! I am applying Early Action as well. Emerson is my first choice. I am planning to major in journalism and minor in political science. During high school, I have been very active. I was the Editor-in-Chief of my school’s yearbook and newspaper. In addition, I am an Eagle Scout and served on the leadership team for my school’s marching band. What is everyone else interested in at Emerson?
Best of luck to everyone!
Daniel
Hi @dpeden! I’m also interested in taking up a minor in political science. Emerson and Boston as a whole both seem to be great places to study politics, especially with everything that’s going on now.
Hi! I applied to Emerson Early Action as a Film Production major. My stats are a 3.8 u/w and 4.15w gpa. I got a 2040 on the SAT.
AP classes: US History (5), US Government, Literature, Statistics
Honors Classes: Physiology, Chemistry, English 3, Advanced Biology
Class Rank: Not sure, but I am in the top 6%
EC’s: Film Club, Red Cross Club (treasurer), Tobacco Peer Education (President), Girls Who Code, Film intern, job working for the city, volunteer at coastal clean ups, volunteer for Bernie Sanders’ Presidential Campaign and a local Mayoral campaign
Awards: Honor Roll, Volunteer Recognition Award from the mayor.
Is there any chance we find out before the 15th? Also anyone else applying for The Theatre Program?
@outtahere2017 don’t be worried. You have good stats, and your portfolio will speak volumes! Best of luck!
@sidarj21 thank you! Also, in previous years the notification date has been moved around–to both before the 15th, and after. It really depends on the applicants and how quickly they move through applications!
My son applied to Emerson EA and I know he is counting down the days! It’s his first choice school. Applying to Film Production/Directing. Fingers crossed that everyone gets where they want to go!
Eleven days left until hopefully decisions come out!!!
@outtahere2017 I noticed that on their website, they changed the admissions notification date from “December 15th” to “Mid-December” hopefully this means sooner rather than later! I am crossing my fingers!
Really hoping to get into Emerson! Has anyone heard when the decisions come out?
@colanxgirl On the website, it says “Mid December” so I am guessing we could be notified anywhere from December 11th-December 19th! What did you apply for?
@sidarj21 I’m really hoping its sooner rather than later. This wait is actually killing me!
@sidarj21 Journalism, what about you?
@colanxgirl Theatre Education! These are going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life.
My daughter has been offered a spot on the Emerson women’s soccer team. She has had multiple conversations with the coach about admissions. He has spoken to admissions, and they received 700 more ED applications this year than last year. They said the decisions will be late coming out. Ugh!
Yikes. That makes me nervous
@KellyC123 That is so exciting for your daughter, but not for the rest of us haha! It is awesome that so many students are interested in Emerson! The admissions team has a difficult job!
