Emerson VS CMU for theatre tech/design

D was accepted early action to Emerson and after her portfolio review was admitted to the program at CMU (with assurances that her grades and scores are strong enough to satisfy the university)

It’s hard to find good comparisons of the programs. She spent the day in classes and at a tech run at CMU and will look into arranging the same at Emerson. We have a good handle on the general pluses and minuses if each city, and have family friends in both (to ease my mind).

.Assuming financials can be sorted — which school and why? Looking for info about classes, training, theatre department culture, and job placement.

Any advice/thoughts welcome!

I met someone with a student at CMU in theater tech and they were taking about how great the program and opportunities are at CMU. For example there is some expensive light/sound board that about 3 schools have and the students get to learn how to work them. The general theater program is very competitive too, so a high quality of students all around. They work hard at CMU. No idea about how Emerson compares.

Have you asked this in the Drama Majors forum? People there might have ideas for you.
