Emerson vs. Fordham

Hey :) -

I applied to three schools as reaches, Emerson College and Fordham University being two of them. I still have to hear back from the third. Somehow, despite my awful stats, I got into both Fordham's Lincoln Center campus and Emerson via Early Action.

Now, let's assume for a second I don't get into the third school. That makes my choice between Fordham's LC and Emerson. I'm having trouble here, really.

Anyone care to give me any feedback?

It is really hard to comment w/o knowing your discipline......what did you think of studying at Fordham/Lincoln Center?

I was thinking of Anthropology, English (Creative Writing track), Communications (Film Studies) or Visual Arts (Film concentration). Maybe even History. I know, I know, my interests are all over the place...

If you are thinking of studying film, I have heard that Emerson has a good film department. I don't know about Fordham.

If you have looked at the specialties Emerson offers and they don't sway you then base your decision on the cities........Boston or NYC. Both are fine schools but Emerson does have some particular specialties.......Emmy winners.

Emerson has no liberal arts so if you want liberal arts possibly don't go to Emerson.

If you want to major on the arts, go to Emerson. Otherwise, Fordham is the better choice.

I've been accepted at both of those, plus others. I'll be attending Emerson no contest. I think you should visit both again and spend a day or do an overnight. At this point they are both fine schools and you just need to see where you fit in better.

Emerson is a good place to prepare for Media professions and would probably give you more individual attention than Fordham. If you come from a non-urban background, Boston might be easier to handle than NYC. But, on the other hand, New York: if you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere!

both r good in its own ways its hard....Boston is really college based and "the city" is just a really cool place<3 what ive lived nearby(w/in a hour) my whole life everyone on LI Calls it THE CITY

Emerson is very out there and liberal and Fordham is, well, Catholic.

I hear the fine arts program at Fordham is VERY good, but everyone here has failed to mentioned that you have to AUDITION to mayor in any of the fine arts at Fordham. You just can't just show up and say, I want to study films, you have to actually have some sort of training before you get there.
