can someone explain what this means?

sucky music by whiny teenagers who often times like to scream because they can't get laid

emo listeners include by are not limited to teens who constantly ***** about how their life sucks, how they have no friends, etc. on livejournal/xanga

emo = emotional
mostly just whiny music
some emo-isms include:
-life is suffering
-my heart is black
-i can't think of any more right now but half of my frickin' school is emo
emo guys wear tighter pants than girls do
they wear their hair slicked down/slicked to some weird angle
they wear black-rimmed eyeglasses (even if they don't need them)
they aren't as deep as they think they are
they make me laugh.

screamo singing is kind of lame. but the screaming part of screamo is awesome. other than that emo is lame.

Guys who whine about life although life is pretty damn fair to them.

Hehe, I like seeing the guy who's going to MIT make fun of other guys for not being able to get any poontang.

Anyways, emo blows.

Where has the love gone?

anyone no any emo artists?

Dashboard Confessional

oh....i see :(

you don't like them? I like the song 'hands down'. A lot of what the other posters are saying about emo is true, but you can't rule out ALL of any one genre of music.

...apparently you can.

I don't know how much emo is a style of music as it is a fashion style / silly attitude.

Just a few years ago before emo was "invented", I think people would just call a group like Dashboard Confessional "soft acoustic rock" or something along those lines. If emo were really a description of music, how can soft acoustic music and loud, distorted screaming music be in the same genre? If it's the lyrical content, then I wouldn't think it appropriate to call emo a music genre.

Any thoughts?

"Hehe, I like seeing the guy who's going to MIT make fun of other guys for not being able to get any poontang."

Actually considering I have a girlfriend and have done much with her and other girls before, I can venture I've probably received much more "poontang" than you. As the lead singer/guitarist of a ska band, however, I agree that emo sucks.

Ska... so underappreciated. Let me just issue a decree to the masses: You all love Ska, you all do, you just are too afraid, because of societal pressures, to admit that you love it.

THANK YOU :)
and you all should listen to my ska band haha
if you like ska, you'll appreciate that we've opened up for streetlight manifesto, catch22, big d and the kids table, asob, the slackers, etc numerous times...

what is ska

basically screaming squared. another component is people running around in a circle acting like they are being herded.

i think emo is great music. there are some emo artists who suck but others who just rock. and let me tell you being a teenager is no cup of tea. no matter what anyone says there are ups and downs. y'all just want to act hypermasculine and act like you lived your teenage years perfectly. bull.

The Aquabats and Reel Big Fish are from "screaming squared." And "people running around in a circle" tends to not affect the musical notes that are recorded in X studio.

Do we want to "act hypermasculine and act like [we] lived [our] teenage years perfectly?" No. We just understand that that's just the natural swing of things. We've all got ups and downs-- it's natural. No use whining about it.
