We went during covid. Campus is relatively compact - you’ll notice the quad is coke bottle shaped - sort of. Make sure you stop kids on campus and “chat” - we did a few times.
I’m sure the school has a self guided tour. Some even have an app that track where you are and guide you.
But the main thing is to stop kids and chit chat / ask questions.
It’s a relatively small, but very nice campus.
You may also put out a note on a parent group and hire someone to tour you. And if you’re there on a weekday, make an academic appointment.
Good luck to you…you’ll make it work enough to let your daughter know if it’s right or not…at least directionally.

Thank you for the reply! Do you know how would one make an academic appointment? I can’t find anything on the website. Thanks again!
It’s a beautiful time of year on Emory’s campus. Be sure to walk through the new Emory Student Center. It’s right off the Freshman quad and has nice balconies to sit, relax, or eat overlooking the campus. Coffee or breakfast/lunch at Kaldi’s at the Depot is also fun, located across Eagle Row from some of the first year dorms and up the street from the fraternity houses/sorority lodge. Asbury Circle is the heart of campus with the Dooley Statue. If you have time, a hike in Lullwater Preserve is lovely and just adjacent to campus. The CDC has a free museum if anyone is medically inclined, and the Carlos Museum (Art & History)
is located on campus on the main academic Quad.

Call the dept. that you are interested in. Find out who you can meet…a professor or student. Or email one directly. We met with academic advisors or profs at several schools.
May not be of interest to you. You can always call admissions and let them do some leg work. Now that they admitted you they need to work hard to get your $$

definitely check out the main quad which is beautiful, the freshman quad, and the student center. and I agree with an earlier answer to take a quick stroll into Lullwater preserve- it’s a nice perk to have that adjacent to campus.

Great suggestions - thank you all!
Can anyone speak to how isolating (or not) it is to be at Oxford College? Is there anything of interest in the small town nearby? My DD is used to living in very exciting urban settings. We’re trying to decide if it’s even worth visiting?
It’s about a 45 minute shuttle ride away from the atl campus- there’s not too much to do there to be honest, especially since it was established as a Benedictan campus (the idea that students would be closed off to focus on their own community and studies) but it’s definitely possible to go to atl. I would check out one of their tours (I believe there’s some spots still open) and see for yourself!

Thanks for your feedback. Anyone else have thoughts? I’ve heard someone say their student was offered the chance to transfer to Atl campus early but didn’t want to; wondering what people like/love about it?
We just went yesterday and the campus is absolutely gorgeous and the people are all very friendly. I would go to the admitted student area during a morning tour time and see if you can get in standby. They are so welcoming thar I think it will work out. Otherwise, try to find a contact there and ask a kid to show you around. They are all so proud of the school and happy to do it. Good luck! My daughter fell in love with it there and will be attending in the fall.

Hoping to hear more about your visit. What did your daughter hear about the lack of anything to do around the campus, lack of a walkable town, lack of things to do on the weekends? Were any of these things addressed by the current students? We’ve been told that many sophomore students try to transfer to Atl campus early due to lack of a social life. Did they address how difficult it is to get the classes you want? Thanks for any additional feedback you can offer, our daughter is visiting next week and we can imagine she will love the campus itself but not the lack of things to do.
Good to know that merit works for the waitlisted . Did you also get financial aid? Were you accepted into Emory or Oxford?
I am planning to apply in Nov for 2023. Your info really helps .
DD is going to decline her offer of admission at Oxford. After attending two info sessions this week and doing as much research as she can, she doesn’t think the rural, isolated location will be a fit for her. We are both regretful for selecting ‘both’ on her Emory application without giving it much thought; everything we knew was about Emory in Atlanta and, having not visited before applying due to the pandemic, we just really didn’t understand the difference. I hope the rest of you reading this thread find your fit and have a great experience.

it was for Emory college! and I did not get financial aid, but thats just because my family makes enough to not need it. lmk if you have any other questions though, and good luck!
We managed to get on a prospective student tour which was great. The campus is beautiful and my daughter really liked it!

I just messaged you about your tour.
BTW, has anybody received a physical acceptance letter from Emory?
Hi There. Sorry, I didn’t see this right away. Honestly, I think I just got lucky. When I first started looking, the date I needed was grayed out. I just kept going back in at odd hours. When a spot opened, I snapped it up. After my registration, the date was unavailable again. Maybe you can go in the night before to see if anyone has canceled? I was prepared to do a self tour but was happy to have the student guide. Another poster suggested going in just before the morning tour time to see if you could be placed on stand by. It might work - they were very nice. If nothing else, they can give you a self-guided tour pamphlet. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I will definitely apply for Emory , including Oxford to maximize my chances. Pray that I will be lucky enough to get some merit scholarship. I probably will sign up to chat with current Emory student to learn more about business consulting , international affairs and environmental studies and sustainable agriculture programs at Emory or Oxford.
