Nothing for me.

^Yeah, do they really separate it like that?

Well I think that they do that because they mentioned the Essence of Emory program in my letter, so maybe they released decisions for URM so that they could buy plane tickets earlier? I don’t know..i’m just guessing

ACCEPTED!!! Yeahhhh!
(my daughter… and yes she is (we are) URM).

Haha, I realized that I didn’t even read my entire letter. I saw congratulations and freaked out.

OK, I have to show my ignorance - what’s “URM”?
Thanks

Underrepresented minorities.

My admissions decision isn’t online yet.

jeez you URM get so much special treatment. I congratulate you all but it still makes me a bit sick.

I feel the same way, John.

Did any URM’s get rejected early? Geez.

lets not get into this argument, I am so sick of AA debates on these boards.

Yes, Joli, some URM did get rejected. Good gracious, there wasn’t a 100% admit rate. Out of the 5 people I know (including myself) who applied who were URM, I was the only one who got in. They probably just told us early because of the program that they have. They wanted to give us a heads up so, if we want to go, we will be able to plan accordingly. No need for getting your panties in a bunch. Everyone will find out in due time.

I really hate the expression “don’t get your panties in a bunch,” but because you’re being silly, I’ll let it slide.

Anyway.

I got into another selective school REALLY early RD. Insanely early. Around the time EDII people found out. And this particular college, while valuing ethnic diversity, also values less conventional aspects of diversity. And I was flagged as an “interest applicant” because of these qualities that I represented.

Emory needs to take a note, that’s all I’m saying.

If the tables were turned, this early notification business would be a huge issue, that goes without saying.

Annnd, I’m done. Congrats to all who were accepted.

it’s so close to decision time, i’m sure they know the decisions for everyone. why can’t they just post them for everyone?

As a generic white guy, I’d have to say I really don’t mind colleges releasing URM decisions earlier. But I can understand why somebody might be a bit irked about a school giving an application more weight because of race, when there are several other metrics that play even larger roles in diversity (e.g., geographic and economic factors.) But, eh, I’ve never really felt any ‘reverse discrimination’ so I don’t particularly want to argue it.

(I’ve never actually seen anybody bring up AA on the years of lurking this site. If anybody wants to say they disagree with it, nobody else really has the position to completely toss them aside with ‘I so sick of AA debates.’)

Trackie: I wouldn’t be surprised if they are still deciding apps. I know that a lot of schools still have quite a pile of apps to go through that they sat aside to reconsider. It really doesn’t take all that long to go through an app, so it’s possible that there is time for Emory to do a lot of last minute reviewing.

I’m a URM and didn’t get a decision online today or an e-mail. I guess it’s not a sign of rejection because some people have recieved rejections according to kiki. This is strange.

What can be considered an URM. The reason I am wondering is that I am Indian. Wouldn’t that be considered an URM?

Indians are ORM’s.

^Yeah, I’m sorry, but Indians are not considered URM. I really wish everyone found out today.

Awww man that sucks, I was hoping for a decision

Congrats to all those accepted!!!
