Hi guys I have noticed that there is no discussion thread for Emory ED1 class of 2025. So I have decided to start the thread. I applied ED1 to both Emory and Oxford as an Economics major. Please update with stats and decision results that come out on 9th december. I wish the best of luck to all of you

Can someone chance me? Thanks!
I applied for Emory Uni, not ED tho. Let’s see.
Wabba221 I don’t know what you mean by chance me- you have a decent shot. There’s not enough context. (no essays, letters of recs, etc.) I would love to be able to see you next year on campus though.
I thought there would be more people applying ED1 to Emory. I mean ain’t no complaints from my side
My daughter did. It’s her dream school. Where else did you all apply for EAs?
That’s great! I hope both your daughter and I get in to Emory. I have applied EA to Case Western Reserve, UNC Chapel Hill, University of Michigan, UIUC, IU Kelley, and UVA. I’m applying RD to USC, Tufts, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Boston College, Notre Dame, Middlebury, Carleton, Washington and Lee. I might do an ED2 at NYU
@vntdman7 My guess would be maybe people don’t want to commit with the pandemic. I applied scholarship priority, but since things are uncertain I didn’t feel comfortable fully committing. It could have nothing to do with that though, just a guess.
ED Acceptance Rate was 40% last year (which was good to see), I wonder if it’ll be higher this year since Emory will want people who are definitely coming?
I think last year the ED acceptance rate was 32% but yeah hopefully it increases this year. https://emorywheel.com/international-early-decision-applications-decreases-by-3-percent/
I applied ED to both Emory and Oxford, I got a “likely letter” from Oxford so hopefully I’ll be going there next year.
@stoplayinwitme What is a likely letter? Is it only done for ED?
Hello everyone! I applied to Emory University ED 1 and Oxford college RD. I’m applied as an Asian-American male under Economics and Public Health. My family is upper middle class but I am considered completely financially dependent of them. I’m about an hour away from Seattle. Relatively rural high school. Average GPA: 3.244, Average SAT: 1120.
*Stats
UW GPA- 3.81 (School doesn’t do weighted, I took 2 honors classes and 12 APs. School only offers 3 honors classes)
SAT-1490 (M-800, EBRW-690) Retaking it again to increase EBRW score to at least 700
Extracurriculars
- Work, Paid (9,10,11,12): 20 hours a week during school, 30-50 hours a week during the summer,

(TLDR: My ecs are really mediocre)
Essays and Recs
- For Common app essay I used it write an extended metaphor of a self portrait and its resemblance of my mother’s loss in sanity. Also talked about how it made me a more resilient individual. I received feedback from 2 current Emory students and about 8 other people. I’ve heard from others that it is excellent.
-supplemental essays: I wrote about coca-cola (hq in Atlanta LOL) and wrote the future roommate essay. - Very generic letters of rec. I was kind of quiet and one of my teachers mentioned it in their recommendation. Nothing bad to say. Teachers noted I was attentive and worked well with others.
This is hilarious we all have either a 1480 or 1490 LOL
I applied too!! Anyone know when decisions come out? I heard it may be before the 15th. Also is it a bad thing if I didn’t get selected for an interview? Even if Emory doesn’t work out I hope we all end up somewhere great
@rbc2018 No, it’s not for ED, I think it’s mostly like for athletes? I’m not entirely sure how it works. And I just got an email saying I’m likely to be admitted as long as I stay in good academic standing.
I was thinking that too. It’s really weird. It seems like most people seem to have around a 3.8 UW and 1480/1490 SAT
Dang you have a very impressive profile. I hope to meet you at Emory next year!
Do most ED1 accepted students get likely letters. Also, does anyone know how much of a bump applying ED gives for Emory?
