I feel like we meet the definition of a textbook Emory student š§š½āāthey better let us in
Hi everyone! Iām currently attending Emory University as a Robert W. Woodruff Scholar, majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Law, with a double in Economics. As a recent applicant, I know how stressful this time can be and this site helped me so much (especially as a first-generation college student). I know that a mentor is one of the most valuable things to have in this process- Iām offering college consulting, essay help, interview prep, and just overall guidance as a college counselor in hour-long sessions. Especially for students who are looking for scholarship help or just choosing the most cost-effective decision! Please message me if youāre interested!
Coming out Wednesday at 6 PM EST. Not sure how it will go for me personally (not feeling good about my chances tbh), but best of luck to all!
Did you get this date and time from admissions office. My stomach just went into knots.

Hey guys! I applied ED to both EC and OC as an Asian female who intends to major in International Relations or Psychology.
Here are the stats:
- GPA 4.10/4.5 weighted
- TOEFL R30 L30 S23 W26; 109 in total (best score 30/30/25/29)
- No SAT as it is currently not available in my country lol
- IB predicted score 40/45
- AP: Microecon 5, Macroecon 4, Lang 4, Cal BC 3
Extracurricular (pretty generic though):
- Debate (10, 11) semifinalists in NHSDLC regional tournaments
- Biology: BIO USACN China bronze and an XLAB summer camp (10.11)
- Volunteer teaching in debate club (11)
- Volunteer teaching MUN (11)
- Pioneer Research Program IR, got an A (11)
- NHSMUN best position paper (10)
- Figure Skating (2006-present): w/ several prizes
- Violin (2011-present): got the highest grade for nonprofessionals in my country
Essays:
- In CA essay, I wrote about the experience of body shaming after I got injured when skating, and how this experience prompted my thinking about agreed social norms.
- Supp: I wrote about the historical event essay and one that states āreflect a time that you believed something to be trueā.
Recommendations:
One from the English department head, one from my Psyc teacher, and one from my TOK teacher.I waived the right to view the letters, but they told me that they highlighted my courage of being a minority and stand out to state my opinion and how I effectively manage my time, finding a balance between the sports and schoolworks.
Iām pretty nervous now as I just heard that Emory is going to release the ED notification. Though I donāt have much expectations but I hope I will be admitted. Writing essays (both for college application and IB) is really exhausting.
Are you sure that the ED acceptance rate was that high? I hope itās the same for this year thenā¦
But isnāt this for the international applicants?
On my tour, I saw that it was 32%. Either way, that is significantly higher than RD and I expect the acceptance rate to be above 30% possibly higher.
Thank goodnessā¦
Does the āChange Decision Plan or Withdraw your Applicationā button go away if you are admitted?
Some kids who applied and got into Columbia and Brown talked about how that button usually goes away if the school is trying to admit you. Thatās usually how the kids figure out if they got in or not before the decision gets released.
Wow hope thatās not true because mine still says that
I donāt think Emory does that. Though I have seen other colleges do that though sometimes it is just for everyone. Honestly who knows.
It looks like my button went away, but itās fairly recent (as in within an hour ago). Can anyone confirm if this has changed for them?
Best of luck to everyone who applied!
Mine went away too. but I think its just that it be too late to change the plan.
same my button went away
