I received an email from Emory admissions saying that they will still be accepting applications through the first week of January. As someone who spends ludicrous amounts of time going over his essays, this is greatly appreciated. My question is how does this work given that the Common App essentially bars you from submitting your application after a school’s designated deadline? Emory’s deadline hasn’t changed on the CA… It still reads January 1st. I emailed their admissions dept and they haven’t gotten back to me yet.
It’s not for your Main app I don’t think. I think it’s for LOR’s. But honestly I have no clue, they did this last year as well.
@emorynavy and @djbridjmurh : It is for the whole app. It is basically a form of leniency, because the weather can screw up things for some folks. I suspect they figured out a way to allow them to accept the application.
"Aim to submit your application by midnight eastern time on January 1, 2019. Both our Early Decision II and Regular Decision plans share the January 1 deadline. If, for whatever reason, you do not meet the January 1 deadline, we are accepting applications through the first week of January.
You do not need to let us know you need an extension; just submit your application as soon as possible. You will not be penalized for late submission."
See, this refers to the application in general.
When will Emory release regular decision?
