@luvtoski: Lies! I’m asian and I applied to Vanderbilt, but didn’t get it…:(

It’s true. It’s through a program called Mosaic and the college visit weekend is actually this weekend.

to those accepted, congratulations!! you guys did it!
i hope i can say the same when i get my decision. i love emory! visited december and it was wonderful. and the weather was warm too!

if we are a minority and didnt hear yet did we not get in? and when should we expect to hear?

^Notification may be related to interest. I sent my national merit commendation to Emory. I’m also indicated interest in a more niche major, Middle Eastern Studies.

Don’t lose hope. I’m sure you’ll get in;)

Also got my decision yestarday morning after receiving an email stating that it would be available at that time. I was accepted, didn’t know this was a URM specific decision. Congrats to those who got in and good luck to all.

im a urm, hispanic from Colombia. Why havent i gotten my decision?

Sorry that you didn’t get in Jamie. Vandy is getting really tough, they crashed their admission rate significantly since my class (2012). I never applied, but I researched their stats. My guess is that this is their way of moving up in the ranks. It’s quite rediculous actually. You’ve been accepted to Emory right? You should, like anyone else here, have a good chance b/c it doesn’t seem like Emory tries to boost its U.S. Newsweek rank by crashing admissions rates and stat. manipulation. I don’t sense as much desperation in that arena. I think Emory is more focused on trying to recovery funds, so they may actually be steadily trying to increase enrollment, which may mean a better chance for you if you have not received your decision yet.

Oh, also, I don’t think Asians are as predominant a demographic at Vandy as the other elite southern schools such as us, Rice, and Duke. I actually think they still tout how certain applicant pools saw an increase in minorities (even Asian). Vandy is simply not as diverse as the rest. By the way, Emory may have far more Asian students than 1/3, as many may not report their ethnicity. Class of 2013 was 31% excluding the 22% (a lot) who didn’t report. My guess is that it would be higher than 31% if these 22% had reported (My guess would be 40+%)

I applied to Emory RD, however I did not receive the email/ and my decision has not been posted on OPUS.
Students from my high school have received the email and their acceptances already.
I’m very nervous.
Does that mean I will not be admitted?

^^^If you are URM and didn’t receive anything I can’t help but think it’s not good news – but I really hope I’m wrong about that.

When Emory posts decisions on OPUS, they let you know whether it’s acceptance, WL or rejection. Are you an URM? Did you complete the application as well as the financial forms if you are applying for financial aid?

me too i didnt apply for financial aid and i had everything in

I’m black, asian, and native american…am i a URM? if so, i still didn’t find out yesterday =(

@bernie: I don’t think I’m rejected from Vanderbilt yet, I just think I wasn’t counted. And no, I am not accepted to Emory yet hopefully I will. and so will you!

jnd3344, I’m thinking that international students aren’t included in this first wave. I know of someone else who didn’t hear either, is a URM, and is classified as an international student. Glad to hear that you’re in the same boat. Don’t worry. Should hear next weekend.

Has any one applied for Emory Scholar related to financial ad?

@antsy14, I think you are quite right about international students, regardless of URM status or not. International students had to submit another part of an application, Statement of Finances, to determine whether the student could afford the college or not so I’m sure it’s taking them quite a while deliberating between who to accept/give aid/reject.

I’m a sophomore here already Jamie lol.

I guess she didn’t read the whole “2012-my class” deal but hey, you can “technically” get into Emory again seeing sophomore->junior is a transient stage where you could apply to the goizueta business school or that woodruff nursing school or stay at Emory college.

Ah, I don’t know what I’m saying >.< This waiting is making me go crazy

What is URM ???
