Is my chance good/decent/low for Emory ED1?
Your stats are in line with Emory’s student stats. Perhaps the SAT score is a little on the lower side. Questions to ask:
- Can your parents afford full pay if you get accepted ED1?
- Will you be able to show them the love, by visting before apps are due?
- Can you articulate in your essays why Emory is the best fit for you?
So it comes to many intangibles, and strangers on the Internet cannot chance you any better than than a slot machine. Check your school’s Naviance, if they have it, to see how many were successful in applying ED1 to Emory. ED can be a good strategy, when executed properly. Keep in mind the types of students who are preferred at ED varies by the university.
I think you’ve got a decent shot your SAT is probably a bit low for Emory and your ECs are bland and depending on how they feel about community service 20 hours per year looks like you just did it to fulfill some requirement I would remove that from your application if I were you. Best of luck!
TOEFL is primarily for int’l students. How long have you been in the US? Are you an ESL / ELL student? Doesn’t seem like it from the AP’s you have taken. Also, your writing score is fairly high. One has to have pretty good fluency in the English language to get a score like that. If you don’t like your reading score, try the ACT. Or you can try the new SAT.
