Whats the supplement?

I'm applying throuugh Common App, so there's a supplement for Emory (which is pretty much the Why Emory? short answer)

Hey rtang! your scores look good for Emory ED. Unless your ec's bring you down, you'll probably get in for sure!

hey guys! i submitted by ED app for emory over a month ago, and am really hoping to get in...my sister goes there and i am absolutely IN LOVE with the school...i haven wanted to go there since freshman year of high school and have been working very hard for emory and eventually goizueta.

as for my scores and stuff... i have a
3.7234 (unweighted) and a 3.8916 (weighted) gpa
my sat is 1300/1600 or 2010/2400
my act is 32/36 (hopefully my advantage here cause its equivalent to a 1420/1600 sat)

i dont like to talk about myself but my ec's are pretty extensive, as are my community service and awards

emory scholars was never in my consideration -- until today when i got called into the guidance office to learn i was nominated...now i have a fun next two days of essay writing!!

good luck to everyone!!

im done with emory scholars now, but now i need to get an extra recommendation then im all set =D

Hey skatz57. Welcome! Hoenstly, I think my chances wouldnt be too bad for Scholars...

does anyone know if admissions starts reviewing after the deadline or upon arrival?

I was wondering the same thing...I'm not too sure though. Also, doesn't Emory have a special method of notifying applicants of their decisions on Dec. 15?

I've heard they post it on opus, then a few days letter you get the same notification in the mail. But you'll get a payment option online before then, if you're accepted.

Fellow ED applicants, I need some advice. I would really love to improve my math score (SAT), it's a must. But I'm not sure if I should switch my application to ED II and take the Dec. 6 SAT and Dec. 13 ACT, just to see how I do. Lastly, has anyone spoken with their admission counselor?

mentalmystic- if it's that important that you need to imrove your score, then you should switch to ED II so you have time to retake. If you are sure that your application would be better in december than in october, then you should switch. Just out of curiosity, what was your SAT score?

I've stayed in touch with Emory counselors through email.

hey everyone. I got an email fom Emory saying tey will be in my area (San Francisco) and they would like to interview me. It's otional, but I think I'll do it because it can be a chance to show my interest. Plus, the interviewers are alumni so that makes it less intimidating.
Anyone else planing on interviewing?

I recently received my Emory ID, so I can check the status of my application. When I checked it, some of the components of the application (counselor recommendation, long essay #1, etc) are displayed as "initiated" while others (application fee, signature, etc) are displayed as "completed".

I don't understand what they mean by initiated and completed :(

Help?

rtang- it's the same case with me. I think initiated just means they know it's been started, but they don't have it yet. For me, a lot of my Oxford stuff is "initiated" (I applied to Oxford EA as well) because I sent all my paperwork (recs, SAT scores, transcript) to Emory, and not Oxford. As long as everything has been submitted, don't worry too much. What exactly is listed as "initiated"?

If I applied using the common app, am I able to make an Opus account to see my acceptance/rejection or is snail mail the only way?

megasupa- all applicants can make an Opus account. You should have gotten a letter from Emory that tells you how to register on Opus and track your application's status.

Emory is my first choice. But I applied for RD because I want scholarship money.

scarecrowluv- you mean you want merit aid from Emory?

If thats the case, heck I want to appy regular decsion. Scholarship money from the school is always good (sorry for butting in)

Of course you get merit aid even through ED. You just won't be able to compare the ** financial aid ** package that Emory gives you with other colleges. If you think you would get scholarship money RD, you will get it anyway. It's financial aid that sometimes differs based on ED or RD.

for anyone that cares...I had my Emory interview today and it was great! It helped me a lot and probably shined some light on me for the admissions office.
