I know these are reaches, but which one?

For Emory, I will be getting a recommendation from their Main Band Director.
I will have other great recs and essays.

Band awards/recongitions:
I've been selected to the.....
University of Montevallo Honor Band
University of Alabama Honor Band
University of North Alabama Honor Band

Offered scholarship to Univeristy of North Alabama Marching/ Concert Band

I recieved the Most Outstanding Award which is given to the best player in the band. This is decided by the Director and students.

As one can tell, I am VERY dedicated to band; band will be my best bet for admission decisions.

Also, in the part of Alabama I live in, there are not GREAT colleges as the ones I am aspiring for, therefore, please do not make a judgment on how great I play based on the fact that I was accepted into something like Montevallo or University of North Alabama Honor Band. :) The fact that I was even accepted into these honor bands b/c of my location is stellar for me.

Also:
I have a part time job working 20 hours/ week.

Please let me know my chances. I know that Band will be my biggest hook!

I think if you can get a good SAT or ACT score of perhaps a 30 or i suppose a 2000+, you have a good chance ED to either one. I assume the early decision rates are the same to either schools, but I prefer Emory in my choice.

I'd rather go to Emory since the band director is writing me a rec, would that help along with my decision to apply ED? I mean, I'm applying ED, I will do the campus visit in a week, I ordered and watched the Emory DVD, I've spoken with admission officers, and I've been on their website plenty of times.

If I apply ED anywhere, It will be Emory, but if anyone can shed light on Vandy then I'm open to suggestions/comments.

All i know about Vandy is that the kids there work hard and have fun. It is in the south/ midwest region and has a great weather/locaiton atmosphere in good old heart of rock and roll Nashville Tenesehee and also has some of the hottest people on the campuses. It has a great pre-med program and you can apply to the Vandy med school in your second year at Vandy if your stats are really solid the first two years. This is the only light I can shed if this is helpful.

it depends on your SAT / ACT scores. if you tell us what they are, people can better evaluate which one is better for you.

Emory is the tougher of the two (IMO) so with no more info about you, i'd say apply ED to Emory since that's the bigger of the two reaches. Plus Atlanta is the better city and Emory is less conservative. You'll probably like Emory more.
