Alexistaylor how do you know that?

oh my goddd!!!
the 11th??? a week from noww??? wait. it’s not even a full week! it’s 6 days and a few hoursss!!! AAAHHHHHH
my friend who applied ED to upenn is getting hers on the 10th so i guess we do have chances on getting them on the 11th!!!

and i still have my Early Decision Agreement “initiated”…

Yeah angi Cornell gets theirs on the 9th - we may be close to that date!

Yeah if you still have that initiated that can’t be good…

angi, make sure your counselor has sent his/her section of the ED agreement, that’s the part I am missing. If all three you, guardian, and counselor don’t have it completed, it’ll show it as missing.

I just checked my CommonApp profile and all 3 have been submitted back in October.
Yesterday I sent an email asking about the agreement. I received a reply telling me that they haven’t gotten it yet and told me to fax it to them.
So… I guess I’ll have to do that Monday morning!

TJC - look back earlier in the thread - it actually says that for the past 3 years they have been posting decisions on the Saturday before the 15th. If you look at previous year threads, you can see people got their decisions - based on their posts - on the Sat before the 15th.

SO I have found all this out about the Saturday before thing through the past collegeconfidential threads. If you google search the past years ed emory threads people are getting in at midnight the Saturday before and Emory emailed them a say or so before. So if it is coming out on Saturday CHECK YOUR EMAILS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY!!! Good luck guys!!! And I have everything completed on OPUS.

Yeah - if you do a “search this forum” on the Emory forum home page or whatever, you can find it. Man looks like I’m staying up Friday night!

Ok, so I am really god dang nervous. lol

Has anyone that applied ED1 at Emory been nominated by their high school for Emory Scholars? If so, congrats, but check my thinking: As much as it is an honor to get that nominiation, I am thinking they will save an actual scholars award of $$ for those they want to ‘lure’ to Emory (read - if you apply normal decision). If you are going ED1, they have no need to give you an incentive to go to the school. For ED, it’s not a choice of ‘Ive been accepted to school A costing $x and Emory costing $Y, but I’ll be an Emory scholar so Emory will only cost me $Z and Z is less than X… I’ll go to Emory because it’s cheaper’.

Harsh thinking, but check threads about scholarships in general. They all talk about how colleges are businesses and they need to keep working on their image - they want to lure those top of the class kids that might otherwise go elsewhere. And $$ can be a big lure.

PLEASE prove me wrong - would anyone know others that went to Emory through ED AND won Scholars dollars?

All the best!

Mind if I ask - for those that applied ED1: Are you and / or your folks expecting to pay full tuition? Or are you hoping / expecting financial aid? Not getting a good FA package IS (the only?) polite way out of ED, right?

Babaganoosh, everyone here seems to agree with your thinking on Emory Scholars. I applied EDI and I applied for Emory Scholars, but I definitely am not expecting either (I’ll be happy with an EDI consolation prize, though!). I don’t know anyone who was accepted ED and Emory Scholars - you’ll have to do some research.

In terms of FA, I don’t know how bad the package has to be for one to get out of ED, but I think technically it is the only way out.

Wow. So I guess this “Saturday” deal is real!
I can’t believe it, we are so close to it!!!

where is everyone from?

also, they emailed a bunch of times saying there are some errors of OPUS and if it says “initiated” do NOT worry. I also met with one of the admissions counselors when I was down there two weeks ago and she said not to worry, a lot of people are having that problem, it doesn’t mean anything!

So it comes down to this Saturday. I’m surprisingly calm right now… That’ll change Friday night though.

Here’s a countdown to bookmark: [Countdown to Dec 10, 2010 11:59:57 PM in Atlanta](<a href=“Time since Dec 10, 2010 11:59:57 pm started in Atlanta”>Time since Dec 10, 2010 11:59:57 pm started in Atlanta)

5 days!!! this is unbelievable!!

Looks like I’ll be playing Xbox from 6pm-11:59pm on Friday night ;)

I wonder why Emory didn’t submit their ED numbers to NYTimes’ The Choice Blog…I would imagine it to be close to the amount last year (669 EDI applicants).

Friday can’t come soon enough!

I’m worried that Emory’s ED numbers have gone way up since they didn’t submit their stats to the NYtimes Blog =(

^^not sure about your logic; if the numbers were way up, that would look good for Emory; they would want to shout it from the rooftops…

…I have a feeling that they were way down; which is good for you guys!!!
