Emory ED1 Class of 2019 Thread

.@rps101 hows ur stats? solid?

@LOLLAND they’re ok but I’m someone whose ECs are really important to shaping my identity and it’s different for me I guess bc im a recruited athlete (but then Emory is D3 so I still have to get in for academics first). also writing is one of my strongest points and my essay topic was VERY unique so I don’t really know what’ll happen but I’m in love with Emory and hoping for the best…hbu

@rps101‌ Good luck!! :slight_smile: I hope it works out for you!

@APBS1909‌ thanks, you too :slight_smile: so nervous

My school has very good admission history with Emory but my sat is only 2100 and my gpa is 0.2-0.3 lower than people who got accepted from our school…

@dk8511 it would be fine cuz its ED1, you know?
Ive seen most ppl around 2100 SAT being accepted in ED1 pool

anyone have friends who applied ED to ivies and are freaking out about those decisions getting released tomorrow? that’ll be us on sunday…

@rps101‌ I’m in the same boat as you, my ACT/GPA isn’t amazing but I have really great EC’s and essays so it’s pretty iffy :frowning: Hope we both make the cut!

@LOLLAND I hope so…
@kac622‌ One of my friend applied to Cornell early and hes having mental breakdown right now lol
@pickledstudent‌ What is your ACT score?

@kac622‌ lol yeah my best friend applied restrictive EA to Harvard so she’s probably freakin out rn…and @pickledstudent‌ we have a good shot. amazing ECs are what make people different…like one of mine is that I started a nonprofit when I was a freshman. stuff like that helps differentiate people…and my Emory essay was about how twerking is a form of cultural appropriation :stuck_out_tongue:

@rps101‌ i feel like everyone goes above and beyond now sadly. it makes me wish i went to college 10 years ago when acceptance rates were way higher… i don’t feel like my EC’s are amazing and i co-founded a non profit too. it’s just stressful when you see some of the crazy stuff some people are doing and think how…?

@dk8511‌ two of my closest friends applied ED to Cornell also!

@dk8511‌ 26 :frowning: I did awesome on Reading and Writing and my essay but Math and Science brought me down a lot. I’m going into English so hopefully they can look past that.

I totally get it @kac622‌ like that nonprofit is only one of the 100 things I ended up doing bc my older sister who goes to Hopkins told me to start early…and it pays off but I agree it’s sort of crazy.

tbh im simply wondering what the admissions board thought when they read the second line of my essay…
“for those not familiar with the phenomenon of twerking, it involves the fervent shaking of one’s backside”

@rps101‌ ahhh you’re lucky you have a sibling who went through this already. im the oldest and literally havent had any idea what to do with this process. hopefully it’ll be over soon though!

@picklestudent‌ I hope we all get in!
Btw Isn’t Cornell the only one coming out tomorrow?

@dk8511‌ thanks you too!

@dk8511‌ I know for sure Brown is also tomorrow bc I have a friend applying there. Beyond that I don’t know. Someone told me it was all ivies but they could be wrong.

@picklestudent‌ I’m going into english as well! and, also, i don’t think we should worry too much about little flaws in our apps. there are reasons why all of us should get in - and its more than just test scores or gpa. goodluck, everyone!!

@dk8511‌ Harvard and Duke come out tomorrow as well.
Ahhh I feel like my stats aren’t up to par with lots of people
