Seems like emory is more interested in high stats this year. :frowning:

Congrats to everyone who got in! For those of you who did get accepted, can you please post your stats and information here for other people who are interested in applying please?

I know it really sucks but if people could post rejection info i’d really appreciate that to get a better picture for RD, thanks in advance to anyone.

I know I didn’t apply ED but for those of you thinking high stats were the case, trust me, I think it really was based on essays. My friend’s SAT score wasn’t up to Emory standard but she got in. I also think the type of extracurricular you do matters because many of my other friends who solely focus on mathematical/ stem clubs, activities etc. did not get in to the some of the top universities even though they had incredibly great SAT scores like 2300+. I think it really does come down to ECs because I know my friend who got into Emory didn’t have the math/ stem club or activities like robotics like the others but what she did have was the community service, sport…and it probably helped because she’s in IB. So don’t feel bad for those of you who didn’t get in. Just keep the positive attitude! Everything happens for a reason!

^The last sentence is prob the only thing keeping me going right now under this stress XD

I feel that Emory really likes community service because it shows persistence and development which is what Emory looks for in extracurriculars.

@rokun123 I’m gonna disagree, I had almost no community service and I still got accepted. Plus my ecs sucked and were inconsistent. Go figure

@DevilKitty : Consistency in EC’s? Don’t even know what that means…also, sucked…by whose standards? It is based on how well you sell whatever you are good at or the way you think. Also, you would be anecdotal. There is at least some evidence that Emory likes those with lots of community service. It’s attempts to heavily recruit Questbridge Scholars is kind of indicative of this (QB program started as a way to emphasize other methods of achievement).

@bernie12 man I’m js that it isn’t the most important factor. Every college wants kids with community service

Well, of course you must academically qualified (which will be a range of scores and GPA’s…Emory isn’t in the “make my rank higher” business yet. Fell out of it 3-5 years ago) first, but after that, they naturally will expect either really good essays or something cool EC wise…but while every school wants people with community service, it doesn’t seem as emphasized as it is Emory. Usually the more novel the service endeavor or the more lasting…the better. Entrepreneurial spins on it are always an eye-opener as well.

I think their main thing is diversity; they don’t want just one profile.
Just got accepted! Got to this thread late, but can’t wait to meet as many of you as possible.
