Emory ed1 class of 2020

@NeuroDude haha yeah whenever someone asks me how many days left I tell them the number before the questions even out xD. Good to know there’s someone else out there, pining for emory

Sam here, I am crazy about it. I am so obsessed and I don’t even know if I will get in. What bothers me most is that we have submitted everything and there is nothing else we can do, it is entirely up to admission… It’s so scary! Only my family knows I applied ED though because if I don’t get in, nobody will know. So it’s hard to share my excitement and obsession with people outside of my family and all of you.

@NeuroDude I’ve wanted to go to Emory since elementary school. I know, crazy right? I’ve told everyone I practically know that I signed the binding agreement because I can’t keep it to myself. I know I might not get in but a girl can hope 8->
And I agree! It’s nerve wracking to know that there’s nothing else we can do but wait but what makes me feel better is reading anything and everything emory has said about ED1 and also making backup plans. I know I have to have a plan B in case but how am I supposed to make plans when nothing else compares?!

So i contacted admission officers at emory and asked what i am missing on opus. They said all i am missing is the mid-year report(first semester senior grades)and to send to them on jan. But i have ED1. So i am confused. Any thoughts?

@Emorylove732 yes you have to send them in Jan. and it will be after your decision is released. They need to see it so they can make sure that you are still working hard and are on track to graduate on good terms. Also, they want uniformity; if they ask their EDII and RD kids to send midyear report and evaluate them then it’s only fair to have us send them as well so they can be evaluated, albeit after decisions.
However, even though you will get your decision early in your senior year, it’s important to keep working hard. colleges would hate to admit a hardworking student with a 4.0 GPA only to see the same student slack off and end up with a 2.8 for their senior year GPA.

20 more days!

Stop, it’s too long. If we could just drop that 0 it would be much better

Yes, I’m pretty sure you basically just send it if you are admitted or waitlisted and don’t need to if you are denied…

Do we figure out the decision through OPUS?

@neekawu yes. If you log on right now in the bottom left corner you will see view my admission decision. If you click on it now however, it’ll just bring you to a page that says it’s not ready yet.
But one day, a day far far away, you’ll be able to click on it and see your decision
Hope that helps!
@NeuroDude couldn’t agree more! :slight_smile:

We are so on the same page @ismitah!

19 days and counting!
Happy thanksgiving everyone! ~:>

Thanks @ismitah, same to you. I hope December 15th gives me something happy to be thankful for…

@NeuroDude I hope so too, for all of us here. But I’m already thankful for coming this far and being able to apply to such a great school. I know it sounds silly but it’s a big deal for my family, I’ll be the first one to go to college. And I think everyone else deserves to give themselves a pat on the back for going through the application process too. It’s hard work

@ismitah, I could not have said that better myself. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to go to college. There are many people who can only dream about it.

Are we still posting stats here? I’m a fellow ED1 applicant.
ACT: 33
SAT: 2120
GPA: 3.74 UW
APs: 11
Instate student
URM

Good luck for everyone else who applied! Only 19 days left until the big reveal.

@AnxiousBoy : Without EC’s and academic interests, can’t really know, but based on stats…yes, especially with the hook of URM. Instate status is irrelevant as Emory is private and in-state students for the last class only comprised 13%.

Yeah I would agree with that for sure

Has anyone received an interview request?

I don’t think Emory does that. They have started an interview pilot program but it is only in six cities.
