Emory ed1 class of 2020

@Oliea98, I feel the same exact way

I applied ED1 to both Emory and Oxford at the same time and I didn’t get an email about applying to Oxford. I’ve been to campus many times before and here are the pros and cons that I thought of when applying ED1 there:

Pros:
Smaller classes
Professors know you well so theirs lots of room to work for them on research
The the dorms are mostly new
Short walk to all your classes and most importantly, food :wink:
You end up at emory in Atlanta two years later with a close group of classmates.
You can have a car
The history! This was emorys original campus and there are so many stories and traditions here I love it.

Cons:
It’s 40 min from Atlanta
It’s a small college feel (which I like, but don’t know if other people here will)
When you leave the campus it’s a drive really to get anywhere
The food is good but less variety than the main campus since they’re serving less people. But it’s good.

I also applied to Oxford because it’s the campus that I feel most comfortable in, all other things being equal. I also love Emory, it’s been my dream school since elementary and I wouldn’t mind at all going to a different campus my first two years since it’s still got the Emory aura around it. And I’ve never spent time away from my family so Oxford seemed like a good transition school. And for those looking into financial aid, it is a tad cheaper but their average package is less than the average package at the main campus.

@Oliea98 are you thinking RD for Oxford? I think you can’t do ED1 anymore since the deadline has passed but you can still do ED2 or RD.

hope I’ve helped!

13 days wonderful people !!! :smiley:

@ismitah well I think they wanted more people to apply to Oxford Ed I, so they gave a second chance to only people who applied to Emory college Ed I to do so… They said we have to decide though before this Friday so that’s not much time

@oliea98 wow that’s amazing! That means if you applied on Friday the tur around time would be 9 days…I wonder how many ppl have already applied to Oxford early.

I DID… AM IM REALLY NERVOUS…

I feel like my hair is going to start falling out I’m so stressed!

the waiting period is killing me but im gonna be too scared to check my status come the 15th

How are your stats @evhsklu?

@evhsklu Don’t worry, you can try to log in blackboard a few days before to see early. :wink:

Haven’t heard anyone try blackboard, anyone tried?

@NeuroDude
sat is 2160 so in range/nothing special but my gpa is pretty bad; 6.65. my school barely does any weighting
at my old school (switched in 10th grade) my grades werent that great but i was in all honors so my weighted gpa was up to like a 4.3. at my current school im taking more aps and my grades are better but my gpa is way lower… im assuming that they take into account that different schools calculate it differently tho and also its a competitive private school
ec’s could be better but i didnt really realize how much that stuff mattered until it was kind of too late

@Emorylove732 What’s blackboard?

@evhsklu those are awesome scores. @Emorylove732 what is on blackboard? Decisions are released via the OPUS portal

@NeuroDude ,@Oliea98
Part of the links on opus. Emory makes it available for the incoming class. I think if you can log in you are in.

@Emorylove732 How do you know that this works?

Just assuming from 05 learnlink thread. Take it with a grain of salt :slight_smile: Just something to keep me distracted from the anticipation :slight_smile:

I tried it but it may be too early to tell still… Ugh I feel like nothing will distract me at this point :-<

Same here haha. It is absolutely killing me

@evhsklu : Better to display passion to colleges with admissions schemes like Emory than to do extra special EC’s for the sake of impressing them. If you loved what you did and did it well, it should have been easy to sell through essays and stuff.

Only a dozen more days!! (That sounded a lot more optimistic in my head)
