Emory ed1 class of 2021

@dt8050 Did you put that on the activities section on your app? Maybe they just ControlF-ed for “theatre” or “music” and sent it to those people.

@dt8050 : My guess is that Emory is trying to make the admissions process more personal and get a feel for the talent of students who claim an interest in a certain area and essentially directly recruit students (not just scholarship candidates). It could be a very effective way to recruit top notch students in certain areas.

@AllStarOne I put “Stage Manager” under Theatre/Drama on the Activities section of the Common App, you’re probably right.

@bernie12 Do you have any suggestions for what to send them? Should I just send a list of the productions? Also the email says that videos are acceptable too yet I am not in them because obviously I work backstage but should I include them nonetheless?

@dt8050: I would perhaps send them that, it cannot hurt. How well the performances went is after all, influenced by some of the work you did!

Hopefully the Emory blog is updated with the release date soon!

@Foureyes66 Yeah, they updated the release date on 9th last year so I guess we will find out pretty soon.

I’m hoping they release on the 13th this year. Each day feels like an eternity!!

@Foureyes66 I feel the same!I am so nervous right now.

@YXZ9978 I’m surprised this thread hasn’t been more active!! I feel like there’s only a few of us ED1 folks here. Some other schools have like 100 pages by now.

@Foureyes66 Haha,I am surprised too.I was hoping to get more information from this thread. What’s your status, btw?

@jerseyshore555 thank you so much for the info! This is going to be a long week waiting.

Does anyone know how much AP classes weight in admission for Emory?I kind of nervous seeing so many of you guys have taken many AP classes. In my school, there is no ap classes but we have some alevel classes which are quite similar to AP in difficulty……

@YXZ9978 I don’t think you need to worry. I know that at the Admissions sessions I went to they made a point of saying they look at each individual high school and don’t compare them against each other because AP’s are weighted differently everywhere.

@Giants726 Yeah,I know, but the thing is that when I first got into my high school there was no ap classes but in my junior year my school started to offer ap classes but it’s only for freshman and sophomore student which means that I am not allow to take it.If my school send school profile to Emory and it shows that there are many ap classes in my school, wouldn’t that cause confusion?

@YXZ9978 I don’t think so. I think they will look at you individually and see that you didn’t have the option. From what I hear from Emory students that are there now, they are very thorough with this process and if you read what the blog posted yesterday, multiple people now review each applicant from the very beginning. I think they will take the time to understand your situation.

Wow, I didn’t know that.Thank you so much!
