If we didn’t apply for aid, will there still be anything for us to see on the financial section of OPUS? Emory says it’s releasing financial aid awards today afternoon.
Current Oxford student here - just wanted to congratulate you baby eagles who got in! For those of you who didn’t, keep your head high! There will be good news coming in the spring! If you guys have any questions (pertaining to both main and Oxford), feel free to PM me!
@jons12
I would contact financial aid now. Its not too late, because you applied early. You might have to appeal. But its first come first serve you want to be considered for aid before ED2 and RD applicants
Got rejected from my first choice, and now I’m applying EDII to the main campus.

@jasminejaffe
That really shows interest, and I’m happy you like Emory so much. since ED2 is harder…
Low Reach
@VANDEMORY1342 wait what do you mean ED2 is harder? than regular decision?
@jasminejaffe I suppose Vand is implying that ED2 is harder than ED1 cause ED2 would have some people that were rejected/deferred from ED1 schools and Emory knows this.
@jasminejaffe: ED2 and RD are about the same percentage wise but I imagine RD gets better/more diverse candidates accomplishment wise. VAND was talking about ED2 vs. ED1.
And like Tennis said, many were denied ED1 schools and are often playing “strategy” and just applying to some top tier school that they believe their stats will gain them admission as opposed to finding a proper fit. Sadly I don’t think all ED2 candidates view the ED2 school as the 2nd favorite among their ideas and indeed Emory can probably tell, so the rate reflects. Both ED rounds mean automatic yield, but they do not necessarily mean retention in the future. If they admit those who are “settling” but/and are a poor fit in either of the binding rounds, they are wasting an opportunity and putting the retention rate in jeopardy. Admissions is not restricted to the moment of sending a denial, deferral, waitlist, or admit decision, they have the future to consider.
@jasminejaffe
What bernie said.
Chance me? I applied for scholars, too.

OTHER:
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes (but probably won’t get any)
Intended Major : Double major in Political science and Piano performance

Emory is my dream school and it would be amazing to go there if I get in and if I can afford it. I did a piano audition in early December and the piano professor said he would be happy to have me. I don’t know if that will weigh into my application, though.
Thanks!
