Essays: Common app essay I wrote about my struggle with severe OCD and how it made me realize that I wanted to go into the international service sector, the Emory essay I wrote about how feminism in the States is too often ignored.
Recommendations: Waived my right to view all of them.

Teacher Rec #1: AP Lang teacher- Super close, suspect it was pretty great.
Teacher Rec #2: AP Calc teacher- Also close, but he likes to be a little weird. He probably talked about how I overcame struggles in his (insanely hard) math classes.
Teacher Rec #3: AP Gov teacher- Actually made me read her rec. We’re close too, but I think she only knows how to write kind of generic recs.
Counselor Rec: Probably generic, my high school has like 2,800 kids.
Additional Rec: My boss from my intern, suppose it was average.
Interview: Didn’t have.

Other:

Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major: History/International Studies (Pre-Law)
State (if domestic applicant): GA
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: 120,000ishhh?
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None

Reflection:

Strengths: Probably my majors for an ED applicant, GPA, pretty good essays
Weaknesses: ACT, No Hooks
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think I was a good fit. They also requested music supplements…they always need more oboes lol.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Accepted at Auburn and UGA. Deferred at Tulane (their whole admissions process is a joke). Had also applied at Tech and UF but hadn’t heard back.

And some advice for any 2021 ED applicants, Emory isn’t lying when they say they review applications very holistically! I was personally freaking out about my ACT, but if your GPA is where it needs to be and your ACT is at least in the middle 50 range, focus on other parts of your application! Stats will only carry you so far… talents/ essay insight will help determine what you can contribute to your incoming class. Make known something that you’re really passionate about on your app!
