Essays (rating 1-10, details):
Common App - Explored/Described the connections between my life, my stutter, and my history of child abuse and how I learned to overcome/grow from it. Might have been a bit of a sob story but w/e it had some impact : 8.8/10
Supplement - Linked a personal anecdote about my stutter to an analysis of the function and influence of the internet on our society and psyche. I finished the essay off directly linking the subject to really specific programs at Emory. Definitely my strongest supplement. 9.5/10
Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):
Teacher Rec #1: History - She loved me, I’m assuming it was at least decent/good.
Teacher Rec #2: English Literature - I accidentally had the opportunity to read this one. Honestly pretty meh, kinda just repeated what I had on my EC’s list, but it wasn’t negative in any way I guess.
Counselor Rec: Probably generic - She had over 80 seniors to manage
Additional Rec: A close mentor who I confided with about my struggles with abuse
Another English Mentor from Yale - said I was her best student and writer
Interview: Didn’t have one. Was kinda nervous I would get rejected b/c I never received one
Other:

Reflection:
Strengths: SAT Score, AP Scores, EC Leadership, Dedication to volunteerism, Essays, Interest in humanities/philosophy ( supposedly Emory is trying to get more humanities students )
Weaknesses: Mediocre Grades, Recommendation letters, SAT subject tests, no significant awards/achievements lol
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: No idea, l like to think it was my essays/interests/SAT score/they don’t calculate freshman grades, but I’m just very blessed to have gotten accepted. Getting rejected from Northwestern made me realize how well Emory fit me and how stupid I was to not apply here EDI.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Northwestern EDI - Rejected, UT - Austin - Accepted, TAMU - Accepted, UNC- CH - going to withdraw application
