Emory for teaching?

If someone is interested in being a teacher, would Emory be the wrong school for them? It looks like you can’t get certified as an undergrad, and it looks like even in the MA program, Emory only has certifications in some but not all subjects.

Thank you for your help with this!

If you are planning to do it via the pre-professional pathway (certifcations, a school for it, etc) that you allude to, then no I guess not. Other than that, I can’t tell you anything. You technically don’t need professional/formal training to build up the ability to be a teacher. I, for example, was offered the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship (I declined and decided to get an MSci in chemistry) with no formal training (I gained a passion via extensive TAships and mentoring). This is honestly one of those things where it doesn’t really matter unless you feel you need formal training.

What’s your money situation like?
I would never recommend for someone to go into major financial debt in order to be a teacher.
