I'm a rising senior who's interested in business, and I heard about this program. From what I've read you need superior academic stats to get in and you need to show passion for business. I don't consider my stats superior by any means, but I wanted to know what stats are needed to be competitive for this prestigious scholarship, if mine are subpar or competitive, and any other information about the scholarship?
Stats- GPA 94.4 SAT I: cr/m/w: 710/770/800 SAT II: mathII/bio/us: 760/730/730
APs: Bio-5, US-5, Lang-5, Euro-5, Micro/Macroeconomics-4s
Taking ACT in September (aiming for 35+), SAT II math and SAT Lit in Oct.
EC's: DECA Regional President, Varsity Tennis Captain, Model UN Chair/Officer, Mock Trial Captain, Business Marketing Honors Society
Awards: DECA National Finalist, 3x NY DECA State Winner, projected NMF (229 score), Model UN Outstanding Delegate, National Spanish Exam Silver Medalist, Williams College Book Award

Anyone…please?

You are DEFINITELY competitive enough with what you have right now. It all comes to your essay and recommendations. Be sure to secure that nomination from your counselor.

Really? Do you know the average stats of kids applying for this? Also does your school have to be a “nominating school” to nominate you for this (like it is for UVA Jefferson scholars) or can you get nominated from any school?

It would really help to know/if you had a class rank and where you are from? are u a URM? the only people I know that have won this scholarship have been at the tippy top of their class, with higher SAT/ACT’s…

fwiw, my daughter had similar stats and EC’s and did not get Goizueta and was waitlisted for RD and a white female from NJ in 2008…the person we know who got it was ranked #1 in his HS class and had over 1500 m/v SAT…

maybe other Goizueta winners can post results…it’s a very small number of winners every year so not that visible on CC

and a reminder…there are no semi-finalists for the Goizueta Scholarship (unlike Emory Scholars)

My school doesn’t rank but I know that I’m at least in the top 10%. I am not a URM, I’m Indian which I guess makes me a ORM. I know my SAT isn’t that high, but I’m aiming for a 35+ on the ACT I’m taking next month (which is hard to get but I think I can do it). Would getting a 35 or 36 ACT help my chances for the scholarship?

Your daughter had close to a 2300 SAT and she was waitlisted at Emory? Wow that scares me…I though my SAT score would only hurt me at the ivys/top 10

So there is an Emory Scholars program as well…does anyone know more about that program too?
