Does anyone know if a microfridge (the fridge you rent from campus coolers) will fit inside a woodruff single?

haha yeah i’m pumped for evans. I stayed for a weekend a while back and it was really nice.

I think it may. I saw the room across from me (a Woodruff single), and it was tight, but you may be able to pull it off. The odds are better if you are on a straight hallway.

A microfridge should easily fit into woodruff single. It fit into my complex double easily. Doubles give you less space per person than a single.

Seems to depend on how you set up your room. My roommate completely lofted his bed when I was in complex, and the room because very spacious.

Are most of the dorms close/clustered together?

When I visited, I thought that for the most part the dorm halls are close together. If you want to see for yourself go here: [Emory Interactive Campus Map](http://map.emory.edu/)
It’s Emory’s interactive campus map. Click on the map image on the left, and the interactive map will be opened in a new window. You can find the different dorm buildings in the key-ish thing to the left of the map which has some labels already.

As for everyone saying Dobbs has the best location…according to the interactive map both Turman and Mctyeire appear to be closer to the DUC. Are people just looking at the bright side when they say Dobbs has the best location?

I got New Turman and I couldn’t be happier! :D

Dude, regardless of distance from the Duc, you want to be Fevans, Longstreet-Means, or Turman.

Yeah, I figured that. I was just trying to figure out why anyone would choose Dobbs. At least Harris has some nice singles, I hear.

I’ve already walked through Turman and Few. They are sooo nice.

What would you recommend for second year housing?? Woodruff? Alabama? Clifton tower? I know I’m missing some but I can’t visit them…I’m applying as a transfer and will be classified as a sophomore I’m pretty sure.

I’ve visited the website but all they really give is the basics like dimensions, location, etc.

Any input you could provide on these would be awesome!

Thank you!

Woodruff, Clairmont tower, or Complex works provided that Complex maintains the amenities it had before its conversion. Woodruff basically has 2+ study rooms on each floor, and 2 of the floors actually have defunct classrooms. It also has the Woodrec (a dining facility with a piano in it, this is actually a quite lively later night dining venue) on the 3rd floor (main entrance). With that said, Woodruff is the dorm with the most internal amenities. Clairmont tower, is in front the SAAC which has a dining facility, along with formal athletic/activities areas. They also have a penthouse at the very top, which contains a computer lab, one livingroom big screen tv viewing area, a kitchen/dining room, and another livingroom with a smaller tv (an area adjacent to this one is another area for meetings and studying, like the area adjacent to the one with the big screen tv). Clairmont has other random areas such as the H-Space at the CRC (has a computer lab, a small living room, and a room with a piano). The URC also has a room in the cut with a piano. If you live in Clairmont tower, you are surrounded by amenities. As for Complex, they had a small gym (as in a bit smaller/more informal than the one at Woodruff), several study areas (including the most formal one right across from the computer lab), roof top access areas with little benches on them (the only dorm with this), and a multipurpose room. I lived in Complex as a freshmen; it was a good experience. All of these are your best options as far as I am concerned. You’ll want Complex if you want decent proximity to your classes though. It’s across from the library, b-school, thus pretty close to the quad. Depending on how you look at it, it’s almost as close as Alabama. It has easier access to the quad from my memory. You kinda just walk straight across. Alabama wins if you have class at Tull Plaza. Perhaps a tie if you have class in Callaway.

What do you think of Alabama as a dorm? It seems the closest to the DUC besides the freshman dorms…

How much of a trek is it from Woodruff or Clairmont to classes?

“I was just trying to figure out why anyone would choose Dobbs.”

Freshmen don’t get to explicitly choose their dorm preferences.

“What do you think of Alabama as a dorm? It seems the closest to the DUC besides the freshman dorms.”

Overall a good choice - decently large rooms, standard price, great location. It is somewhat run down, but still in much better condition than Trimble (the only dorm I wouldn’t recommend to sophomores unless you have no other choice).

“How much of a trek is it from Woodruff or Clairmont to classes?”

Woodruff is on the edge of the main campus, but still a reasonable ~10 minute walk to most classes. If you live on the Clairmont campus it’s either a ~20 minute walk or a ~5 minute shuttle ride to the main campus + another 5 minutes to walk to most classes (shuttles come at 5 minute intervals during regular class hours).

Is Dobbs really that bad? I want the actual truth here please. I got Dobbs along with my roommate. Thanks.

Dobbs has the smallest rooms of all the dorms on campus. It is also the oldest dorm so it kind of smells in there…

BUT, because its so small, I heard the people living there are the closest out of all the dorms. They won songfest last year too.

So does everyone agree that woodruff, clairmont, and complex are the best choices for a sophomore transfer…?

I stayed in Woodruff last year. I know that if I walked the normal pace of most, it would take me 15-20 minutes to get to my classes on Dowman Drive (Science buildings and white hall). However, I walk fast so it took me 10-15 instead.

Also, (bernie,) are beds in woodruff extra-long twin or just twin, and do you need a mattress pad? Thanks in advance

Also, do woodruff kitchens have toasters? Thanks
