Emory or Tufts?

Emory or Tufts? If you had to choose between those two schools.

Which school is more well-known or has the better reputation?

Tufts is probably more well-known, but Emory has a academia & reputation i believe.

Both Emory and Tufts are regionally prestigious. In the Southeast, Emory has a better reputation, while in the Northeast, that honor belongs to Tufts. In other regions of the country, both schools are almost entirely unknown.

Since you’re posting this on the Emory subforum you’re going to get people biased for Emory. If you like both equally, and both are financially viable, apply to both. Then IF you get accepted to Tufts and Emory, tour the campuses, speak with students, and if possible check out the facilities of any program you’re interested in.

One last note of caution, Emory doesn’t have engineering, and our physics/math/computer science programs are lacking compared to Tufts. If you’re interested in those fields, apply to a different school.

Also, a lot depends on location. Boston is a more intellectual city but the competition there is really tough. Atlanta has a warmer climate, but many people don’t want to live in the south after school. So if you want to get a job in Boston or New York after college Tufts might be better, if you plan on applying to grad school it probably doesn’t matter.
