I am at emory right now and i am thinking about transferring to u chicago. So, i'm wondering how good is the pre med program at chicago?

Also, would the grade deflation at u. chicago hurt my medical school admission chances? Thanks!

Barc, I know some about Chicago but nothing at all about Emory as a premed institution. What can you tell me, to help us make the comparison?

1.) How good is the advising?
2.) What kind of extracurricular opportunities are there?
3.) What percentage of Emory kids eventually get in?
4.) What is their average GPA/MCAT score? Matriculants, not applicants.
5.) Is that average GPA hard to achieve at Emory?

Thanks for replying!
1)Basically the advising at emory, in my opinion, is not very good. When I ask my advisor questions, she never knows the answers and tell me to go to the career advising office. the career advising office is okay, but still not helpful at all.
2) There're a lot of volunteering and many research opportunities. especially volunteering at emory's hospitals. Research opportunities with professors are pretty easily to get. a lot of intermural sports.
3) There're two link to emory medical school admission stats

5)It's not difficult to get above a 3.6 as long as you work hard. However, the weed out pre med sciences are pretty hard, especially intro bio, so it can pull down the GPA a lot.

Hi barc,

I'll PM you with my thoughts on Chicago.
